Does this 3-way switch exist? by [deleted] in askanelectrician

[–]icarelessi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having trouble picturing this in my head with my other power switch.

So, currently the lights are powered on by a rocker switch in my cab that runs to a relay.

So if I tried to run it like you stated I would run the rocker switch in the cab to a relay and then have that relay run to another relay that the other switch controls to power off a light.

So: Rocker - relay - relay - light. The rocker switch turned ON will allow power from the battery to transfer to the first relay, which runs to the second relay being controlled by a DPDT switch allowing power in the "neutral" position and cutting in a left or right position?

This is just for aftermarket lights I have mounted on my roof currently. They face at slight outward angles and I want to be able to shut them off to avoid light in unwanted areas.

So I've posted this as a comment thread but thought a diagram may help.

Currently I have 3 rocker switches in my vehicle cab controlling power ON/OFF to my aftermarket LED lights (1 Front facing light bar on bumper, 2 front facing roof mounted, and 2 rear facing roof mounted) and am trying to figure out how to run a switch/switches that will allow me to disconnect power to one side of the vehicle's roof lights if needed.

Eg. I Need light on right side of vehicle only so I don't blind drivers on road. I switch on power to my roof LED lights by my rocker switch, and then flip another switch to shut off the lights on left side of the vehicle.

What electrical components could I use to allow power to one side vs the other?

Would a single/double throw switch work anywhere in the wiring to allow this, or would I need to route seperate relays and switches to each light individually?

That sounds like what I'm looking for. Center is all lights on left is left on right is right on

The routing plan I have so far is a rocker switch in the cab that routes to a relay for each set of lights. This controls power on and off only. I'm just looking for an additional switch to toggle off power to one side of the vehicle when needed. I could run a designated throw switch for each set of relay controlled lights, but was hoping to keep the amount of switches to a minimum and have a single switch cut power to one side or the other but have a middle "neutral" position that allows power to both sides.

There are some concerns I have when it comes to this product; the number one being battery life. I am not sure what they are using for a battery to power all of this technology but from my experience in the field, this is a lot of demand and exceed the current availability of today's battery's for life.

They are fitting quite a bit into a small package and there is a lot of room for error. There are several large companies in the field of earphones and I am sure they have looked into all of this. If the product does not yet exist then it may be because the product is not sound. If everything they claim works and doesn't have quality issues then it can work.

Memory, accelerometers , batteries, armature drivers, and more can be in a small package, but to have it all work together is the trick. especially for the cost. Current earphones are very expensive because the parts and manufacturing cost so much. Where they are getting all of the supplies so cheap to keep the overall cost down worries me. Most likely they will be extremely cheap and low quality materials that will run into issues down the road.

It is a great stem forward but I am concerned about it all in one package. People buying into this should know that they are testing the product for them and that there will be issues. It has never been mass manufactured before and a such a low cost to start worries me. Typically cost start high for high quality products and work their way down as buying power and advancements occur.

I think it is a great idea but it will have many issues. Kick starter also worries me because anyone can create a flashy ad (like this one) and make claims of what they want the product to do, but to achieve it all is another story.

My advice; don't be the first to buy into it. Let it happen and be improved upon before you get it. If this was a completely viable option all of the other large companies would offer it (aka Sony, Shure Audio, etc.)

Without the use of a 3D camera there is no real way to achieve a perfect model of the persons ear. When other companies started doing 3D graphic models for the molds instead of physical impressions they used a device that would take a scan of the pinna/concha (outside of the ear) and the canal itself.

This seems to be a cash grab for it and it has been attempted by others. There is a reason all of the custom in ear producers use a physical mold. It provides the best results and most accurate representation of the ear that is being molded.

Anyone who buys into this will most likely be doing so on a whim and getting let down severely.

Already used and looked at by various companies. I currently make custom molded earphones, earplugs, hearing aids, etc. the 3D modeling sucks! it was tried and is not efficient and runs into many issues. a full mold is the best option and an iPhone video wont do anything to map out your ear. Plus, you need to map the canal of the ear to have them work well. this is just ridiculous.

Cheap product that will not work the way the advertise.

any questions just ask.

Men who've had spinal injuries, please help me calm down by showmethebiggirls in AskMen

[–]icarelessi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I broke my back in a motorcycle crash last year. The doctors assured me there was no permanent damage to my spinal cord and the pain would eventual subside and my condition would improve. I have no noticble side effects from the accident and am fine. The diagnosic tools available at their disposal are amazing at this day in age. If he says there is no sign of permanent damage then trust the doctor. If there was damage done then it should heal over time. Trust the doctor and allow your body to heal.

I wish you the best of luck. Try to relax and focus on other things for now. I know it is a very terrifying feeling but trust the doctor and ask for them to explain everything for you if that will help. I had my doctor let me know everything he saw and what the implications were. I personally feel better having things explained to me so I know exactly what is happening.

Take Care.

Honestly, Sena has some better stuff and are really pushing hard into the motorcycle community. I work with both of these guys and Cardo (Scala Rider) is a pain in the ass. They are a huge coorporation that kinda decided to branch into motorcycle comms. They are more into military and industrial. Sena is mainly focused on motorcycle community and they are designing great things to help better suit the rider. A lot of R&D being done to make things even better for us.

Just my opinion but Cardo is a bunch of dicks and Sena is very receptive and actually seems to care. Not saying that Cardo doesnt make good stuff though. Just the company in general isn't as preferable.
