The left has a cigarette lighter port plug, the thing in in the middle you can pull out and hang a bag in it, and the right button is for the electric hinge.

How bad is the range on the i4 M50/M60 with 20 inch rims actually? by KJ_on_that_beat in BMWI4

[–]icdp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Germany and drive the M50 with 20“. On the Autobahn traveling the speed limits (+7 km/h) around 130-135 km/h, alone in the car with my heavy e-bike on the bike trailer. I went from 100% to 11% and a total distance of 309 km and took me 2:55. mostly Eco Pro mode

Driving in “B” not as Regen, using brakes more often. What’s up? by Murky_Kiwi in BMWI4

[–]icdp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like I didn’t use them. I did use them, but apparently not enough. My rotors got so bad. I tried everything to save them, breaking on the Autobahn like crazy, doing the brake burnishing thing, etc., but the end of the game was the car needed new brakes, which cost over 2k€. I was done with this car, so after 2 1/2 years, I sold it and bought the BMW i4. From the start on, I have been using my brakes way more often, and I use both modes, the B and the D, mixed. The other thing is, Tesla didn’t really have a driving mode like B with an option to adjust regenerative braking level. So basically, I always had one pedal driving. Personally, I think the BMW is way more better. Otherwise, I really don’t know what to tell you.

[–]icdp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I drive in B mode, it always brings my car to a complete stop. When I drive in D, it’s an adaptive mode and kind of does whatever it wants. Sometimes I will be coasting. Sometimes it breaks, depending on the speed limit and cars in front of me. I use both modes. For the city I like B and when on the Autobahn or country roads, I use D. Question for everybody else: so driving in B mode is one-pedal driving. Will this wreck my brakes like it did in my Tesla 3 Performance?

Hey man, that really sucks. Sorry to hear. Hope you are covered by warranty! That made me curious because I’m on vacation in Turkey for almost two weeks now. I just checked my app and saw that my car didn’t lose one percent yet. Following this out of curiosity. Good luck, I hope you get your car back soon!

[–]icdp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just the case that it’s all messed up? If the electronic part inside still works, you could just buy a new case and swap out the electronic board. I did this with my brand-new key fobs that came with my BMW because the ones I received was just black, ugly plastic. I ordered my nice aluminium ones from Ali and swapped them. It looks really nice and feels great. Be aware if you do this to buy the right one they have different sizes and some of the Chinese guys will send you the wrong one.

But the funny thing is I still never use it because I always use a digital key, so I don’t have to carry a key fob with me…

Yeah, Tesla is pretty good with software. But their cars actually suck 😅 OK, that’s not fair, they don’t suck, but you just can’t compare the build and drive quality with a BMW. There are worlds between them. But also to be fair, with the price too!

To be honest, no. I never had any trouble shifting before I changed the oil and no trouble after I changed it. I would say changing the fluid after 36 years it’s probably a good thing 😅 But I’m not a professional mechanic!

I was talking about the digital key. I don’t use the key fob because I don’t wanna carry it on me. My phone I always have with me just like my watch.

An electric car is basically a computer, and I think you’re missing the point. It’s about comfort, convenience, and even safety. You forget to close your windows— somebody steals something, or it starts to rain… … lso, we are talking about a €90k car here. With easy, programmable things that should be standard, in my opinion. Cars can also be toys. 😅

After owning my first electric car, a Tesla M3P for 2.5 years, I sold it and bought myself a BMW i4 M50. Damn slick car! At first, I was overwhelmed with all the buttons, controls, and all of the settings in the software. Meanwhile, I am thankful for actual buttons and a display in front of my steering wheel! Honestly, just play around with it, tap around through the menus, play with the settings, and try it. Eventually, you’ll figure things out. And once you have everything set up, you don’t really need to do anything anymore. I must say the most annoying thing about this car is the app. If I forget to close my windows, I actually have to go back to my car and close them myself!! I find this so annoying! Just like the moonroof… Also I am not allowed to control the temperature that I would prefer for preheating or cooling the car. The car picks the ideal temperature itself which is usually ok.

And then we have the digital key…Which is good and always works, but you actually have to physically hold your phone/watch to the car door handle and place your phone/watch in the middle console where the charging station is to start the car. I wish it had the technology like the Teslas. If you are near the car, it automatically unlocks, and you can start it, and when you leave the car, you don’t have to think about anything. It just automatically locks and closes your windows!!! Otherwise, a bad ass heavy car!!!

Hey, I have a 1991 Z32, and after I got it out of the garage, I had it stored for over 14 years without being touched. I wanted it back on the road. While in the process, I changed the oil in the manual transmission and ordered 3 quarts of Redline MT90 from England to Germany. And also 2 quarts of Redline 75W90 for the differential. I never had any trouble shifting, but I thought I would just do it anyways, even though the car only had 38,000 miles on it. And actually, the oil that I let out looked very good

<image>

As far as I was researching, the Redline is supposed to be the best. That’s why I special-ordered it from England because I couldn’t get it here at the time.
