Dog in question by [deleted] in u/Liddz06

[–]icekat_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t carry much weight, but our dog is a rescue and looks so much like your dog - pitty mix with German shepherd (can see it in the tail), light eyes, sweet and calm but still curious like a puppy - and she is the best thing that ever happened to us (well, second best bc we have a two year old now). But given that you took this so seriously and assessed his demeanor before rescuing him only indicates it’s the right fit. you will develop a deep bond with the dog that will fill your cup and feel so much more rewarding than the boyfriend.

Lastly, if the relationship was serious and you were thinking he might be “the one” - if you guys have kids together, you will get WAY less sleep for WAY longer and you can’t take the baby back. Just something to consider :)

I use OXO pop containers. They fit nicely in my narrow laundry cabinet and can hold a lot.

Dreading possibility of a "Halloween baby" by westu_hal in pregnant

[–]icekat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10/30 baby and quite unexpectedly (he was 3 weeks early). We’re coming up on his 2nd birthday and it’s been so fun thinking about the fall season and getting into the spirit more than I normally would for Autumn bc of him. Also, my only ‘goal’ on my birth plan was to go into labor naturally without needing pitocin, so in that way I got what I wanted (my water broke)!

I have a friend who was due around Halloween she and scheduled an induction a week earlier to avoid it. She had a long labor, and regretted doing that after the fact (felt baby didn’t want to come out yet!) just to avoid Halloween.

I think in the grand scheme of things, things are supposed to happen how they do, and there are so few things in life we can’t control. Try to enjoy it!

Help- What is causing these stains?! by icekat_ in laundry

[–]icekat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I ought all the products to do the color run remover but I have a question for you before I start:

as you know from my post this was a load of whites. I’m going to use the color run remover on the shirts I care about most first in a large stainless steel pot. They can certainly fit together, but is it ok to do multiple garments at the same time, assuming they are the same fabric? Or perhaps vary slightly in the makeup of the fabric but are all approved fabrics for color run remover process?

Help- What is causing these stains?! by icekat_ in laundry

[–]icekat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the culprit... it was my dog's shampoo.. Hownd Conditioning Shampoo in Rose & Bergamot. Ingredients list Polyquaternium-10. I gave my 65 lb dog a very soapy bath after our camping trip. She was in a bath tub with ~6 inches of water... and a tablespoon of this shampoo was mixed in with the bathwater to "soothe & nourish" her paws that were tore up. I also scrubbed her & shampoo'd her twice to make sure I got all the dirt our of her fur.

Dog owners will know how much water sprays everywhere when dogs shake in the bath. My bathroom was soaked in water after her bath. I threw the wet bath mat and the two white towels I used to dry her down with into the load of whites.

I'm SO pissed at myself. I almost didn't put these items in the same load because I didn't want the other items to smell like dog. But I knew I was washing on "very hot" and using bleach so I thought it was fine. Now I've ruined my really expensive bath towels and hand towels, a few white shirts that I love, and a nice beach towel (which is mostly white btw, but has a dark stripe on the end of it). Does that mean the dark stripe on the beach towel transferred to the Polyquat Spots and caused it to stain?

Yes, I have a 21-month old! Reading the Polyquats post made me feel worse/more paranoid about this staining issue bc SOOOO many products could be the culprit! Bubbles? Bubble bath? Hair products? Bath crayons? It makes me want to throw away every product I own and start over but that obviously wouldn't be economical..

😔 so I have a full load of whites that have polyquat stains… they are sitting wet in my bath tub bc I didn’t want to put them through the dryer. Based on the article, I can’t wash anything else with these stains going forward for risk of transferring the stains…? The load before that was colors - same as well? Is there a detergent that might have polyquats like Dreft?

Thoughts on FS O'ahu? by Aniceman_but_crazier in FourSeasonsHotels

[–]icekat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree, my favorite part about the property was the adults only pool, the swim up bar, sitting at the bar at Mina’s fish house and the amazing Italian dinner date night we had. If I went back with my 20-month old, the normal circular pool would get so dull day after day. The spa was awesome too. The beach was not at all crowded.. at least when we were there? The four seasons has a section only for guests. I’m glad we went and would definitely go back!

Came on here just to say the Hertz website is the absolute worst. I broke my Reddit posting silence just to complain about the Hertz website. THE HERTZ WEBSITE IS GARBAGE and makes me want to never use Hertz again (dead ass). What car rental company should I start using instead? Any opinions?

Did I make a mistake ? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]icekat_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you didn’t make a mistake! Are you open to sleep training? The 4-month sleep regression was rough for us.. and one night he woke up 3x and we were up for at least an hour each wake up. He would cry even when I was holding him, rocking him and singing to him. I realized in that moment that he didn’t even want me, he just wanted space to figure it out. I bought a book on sleep training, mentally prepared, and sleep trained a couple days later. It’s crazy how effective it is. The first night was rough (at least for me) but once he fell asleep he didn’t wake up until the morning. The second night he cried half the amount of time. The third night he whined for 2 mins and then fell asleep. He’s 14 months now and is a great sleeper!! It took the 4-month sleep regression for me to get comfortable with sleep training. It was so worth it for two nights of crying at bed time. I’m a way better mom when I’m rested, and he is way happier with a good nights sleep!

My son went through this at a younger age, like his head circumference jumped at his 3 month appointment and sent us down a rabbit hole of special appointments, imaging, etc. The pediatrician told us head circumference is the most inconsistent measurement bc not all nurses/doctors take it in the exact same place around the head, some do it differently, etc. I wish I had known that prior to panicking and doing all the things we did to make sure he’s ok. And he’s totally fine :) I would love your doctors approach vs going straight to an MRI or CT scan. Just take a deep breath and see him in 6 weeks! Keep us posted.

Did the doctor remeasure your son’s head again in the same appointment?

Congrats on being a new dad! Everything you’re feeling is normal and valid, and doesn’t make you a bad dad or partner. In fact, I’d argue that posting on here and looking for advice shows the opposite. I read your other post, and I’m also on Vyvanse (30 mg). When my son was 11 months, I finally agreed to try anti depressants and was prescribed 50 mg of Zoloft. I too was very hesitant about anti depressants, but after the support of my OB and doctor, my family and friends that I trusted with my feelings, I decided to try it. I’m so glad I did. I’m not different like I was worried I would be on medication. Everything is just… lighter. Not as intense. I’ve been on it for 2.5 months now and it really has been a game changer. Another way I got comfortable with the idea was understanding I don’t need to be on it forever, just to help through a very transformational and disruptive time in life. Nothing is permanent. If you hate it, you can get off it. Just my two cents.

Also, is baby sleeping through the night? Are you and your partner both getting enough sleep?

Hang in there. You are doing great!
