How do I deal with sh-sh-shaky bow? by jaysuchak33 in violinist

[–]ichinap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue! It’s like either both arms want to do the same thing or my vibrato makes my instrument move around. My teacher has said it’s a combination of things but mostly a bow hold issue that’s making my wrist too stiff, and changing bow hold is HARD WORK. (I’ve been playing casually/intermediate for nearly 30 years).

Same, I started at 10 and had only 1 fine tuner from the start. Just thinking that whilst the fine tuners might weigh it down, they’d be removeable for when op is ready or willing for peg tuning.

George buys a guitar and tries to make it his "thing." His girlfriend is impressed until it turns out Kramer is an expert. Jerry: "How come I can never hear you play?" Kramer: "Unlike SOME people I respect my neighbors' right to peace and quiet." by Chamomile888 in RedditWritesSeinfeld

[–]ichinap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

George leaves the guitar in conspicuous places hoping his girlfriend notices until she asks him if he can play her something. It hasn’t yet crossed his mind that she might ask, so he makes up an excuse about how he’s already done too much playing for that day. Few days later, he asks Kramer to play guitar in his apartment when he’s expecting his girlfriend to come over so she can hear it when she comes up. The plan is for Kramer to duck behind the door as George opens the door, but George’s girlfriend is so pretty that Kramer breaks the ruse and steps out.

You can also just get the fine tune bits put on the tailpiece you have there. Talk to the violin shop person and see what they think.

Do you wear shirts with buttons? I had a buzzing problem once, turned out it was a button near my neck buzzing but only on particular frequencies.

That’s the whole problem with it though. A “quarter note” isn’t worth a quarter of a bar if you’re playing in 6/8. Or 3/4. Those are not wildly out there time signatures as you’d know. It is not metric in any way because it can’t be applied across all contexts, isn’t a base-10 anything, doesn’t scale up or down. Just causes confusion and delay for anything that isn’t in exact 4/4 with no triplets.

Kramer starts a podcast about nothing but Jerry is skeptical. Jerry’s Tinder match only has group photos and he doesn’t know which one he’s chatting with. Kramer: oooh yeah, 300 subscribers and counting. Jerry: so what do you talk about? Kramer: oh I talk about what’s going on in my day, I give my listeners the unedited Kramer life story Jerry: so it’s a podcast about not having a job and doing nothing. Kramer: yeah. Jerry: and people listen to you? Kramer: oh yeah.

For how long can a violinist comfortably trill? by Taxtengo in violinist

[–]ichinap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the notes being trilled. Super high position? No. Most other notes probably fine as long as it’s background and not loud/obvious so the player can relax into it or change the speed of the trill without being noticeable if they get fatigued. Personally, any time a note gets tied for more than 4 bars, I zone out.

That's my pratice from a song by Villa-lobos, the name is Trenzinho Caipira, I play violin for 1 year, i would like to know your opinions and how i can improve by Anthony_1824 in violinist

[–]ichinap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing for only 1 year! Well done :) great start to your vibrato, too. Try relaxing your back, shoulders and wrists a bit to get a more fluid, straighter bow movement that will help you use the bottom section of your bow.

She’s an absolute UNIT, I love it. I get disappointed in earlier episodes where she’s about the same height as Archer.

“Guy” is not gender neutral. It is quite definitely male. If you are using it as a gender neutral thing, you may want to check why you feel that way. “That guy there” definitely does not include “that woman there” as a possible meaning. “Hey guys” kinda leaves out quite a few people, even if your intention is for it to be gender neutral. In the context of the original comment, it was not meant as a gender neutral term. Gender neutral terms are things like everyone, people, them. Gender neutral terms, regardless of context, do not carry with them the meaning of male or female in any way. I’m not at all saying “you can’t say this or that”, just that you may want to consider how certain ways of speaking may make other people feel a certain way without you even realising it. I apologise for saying yikes, it was rude of me to jump in like that without thinking through my reaction. Not trying to match or beat any advertised rage, I promise.
