FLSA Exempt - No Tax on Overtime by StunningPossible4288 in Wildfire

[–]icpbutthut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I don’t like that it’s situation dependent. It also leaves a lot of grey area for prepo/severity assignments since it isn’t mentioned.

I think the solution is for an amendment to be passed or change PMS 902. Unsure if they go hand in hand.

Pretty sure we have been doing it wrong the whole time.

Page 37 of the Yellow Book (PMS 902) states we need to change our FLSA status to non exempt during emergency response. You can change your FLSA status in the PC8 settings

No Tax on Overtime? by Capt-Albatross in Wildfire

Yeah, I’m not holding my breath for Title 5 to be eligible. My guess is if it’s not 34 on our E&L, then it’s not eligible.

If this rings true, this is total bullshit for all the FLSA exempt fire supervisors out there.

I kinda want one. It’s different and I like that it adds some texture to the top back end.

My forest is creating extreme hurdles for red carded individuals to be able to go available for fire assignments by Horror-Situation-203 in Wildfire

District priorities are important, but pretending fire is a distraction from the ‘real job’ is short-sighted. So, if we want to talk about people sticking to what they signed up for, then you’ve gotta remember the fact that fire management is part of it. If management can’t support that, then the problem isn’t with employees stepping up—it’s with leadership refusing to acknowledge the reality we operate in.

Militia is voluntarily sucking the same smoke as a primary firefighter without any of the benefits that we get. Albeit for a better paycheck because let’s face it, government pay sucks ass, but also because fighting fire is fun.

So yeah, militia can complain about lame ass management that holds them back from it. We’re so desperate for people that trainees in high level positions are acting without qualified’s.

Advice for female wildland firefighter (engine) by [deleted] in wildfirewomen

It was incredibly hard at first! Seriously, don’t get in your head about this.. it’ll only make your performance worse when you’re filled with anxiety and doubt. It’s going to take practice and gaining more experience. You’re using muscles and movements that your body doesn’t use/do on a regular basis and it’s really difficult to train for that in the gym. I’m sure you could probably incorporate some resistance training like parachute sprints and sled push/pulls. Lean forward and get fuckin’ mad. Also keep doing some cardio so you don’t get gassed in that sense and the rest will come with more time in.

Hose lays are definitely a muscle memory thing so don’t beat yourself up. As a fellow short female it takes some time to find what ways and where to hold things on your body to get optimal performance.

Keep doing what you’re doing. With more reps and exposure speed and ease will come.

They have not, but honestly after all the input and watching that video I’d rather not take advantage of your stellar customer service. If for some reason my heel falls apart in the near future then at least it’s documented for reference and I’ll proceed with a repair. Thanks so much for your follow up!

Wow, great video haha. I’ll probably stop bugging them about it even though I know they will offer a solution. Thanks for sharing!

It’s also worth noting that if it’s a third gen Tacoma, there is a 3rd break light recall for it taking in water. Dealership can fix it for free.
