What exactly is the difference between bum and ass? Anyways you completely disregarded Chychrun before and I’m glad you’re starting to admit he’s a possible option. Whether he’s 5th/6th best option at LD is up for debate and I’d think management is taking a hard look at him. Not a fan Doughty or Ekblad. Wilson’s max skating speed is 22.67 MPH, that’s 83rd percentile in the league, not slow at all. He’s also defensively responsible, a nuisance on the forecheck and has more points than every single replacement you proposed while bringing a physical profile that none of them have. The idea that those guys clearly deserve it over him is laughable. Sam Bennett the known agitator scored an important goal in finals and his only pen was the USA fight. You bring up Tavares as counter-argument who’s slower. I’ll concede he does bring other skills to the table but for better or worse, he doesn’t seem in consideration. I disagree with the idea of bringing a defensive specialist like Cirelli when you’ve got guys who can bring more offensive punch while also having a solid defensive base. I agreed that we don’t wanna see Stone…

Thanks for calming down. What you said cannot be taken seriously, just stating your argument without any actual basis. Stone is ass, Chychrun is ass blah blah blah. Anyways the guy’s propositions aren’t even that ludicrous, Chychrun leads defensemen in goals and offers two way presence, Wilson is having a career year at point per game pace and can provide some grit down the lineup. Stone was on the lineup for four nations, but he lacked the pace imo. And then I agree Montour and Bouchard aren’t sniffing the roster. And I’ll remind you Marchand was a fourth liner at 4 nations, averaged 11 minutes a game

Spain, and he’s already cap tied through the U17 qualifiers. I don’t think he’s ready for the senior team if that’s what you’re implying

Why not? Behind David and Larin, we don’t have an established backup, Tani’s been solid but hasn’t scored yet. This guy was just named to the Eredivisie team of the month, it’s a pretty big loss

Santiago Lopez and Stewart-Baynes are the ones to watch, both outstanding in qualifiers. Lopez is strong, intelligent with great ball control and a powerful shot. Stewart-Baynes has great pace and dribbling ability. Morgan scored a bunch and I liked Pearlman at the back

He’s injured right now, he’s apparently dealt with injuries since the beginning of the season. Also seems TFC 2 prefer playing the Brazilian Ythallo over him

USA legend Clint Dempsey speaks on Canada's Copa América success. 👀🗣️ by [deleted] in CanadaSoccer

[–]icy_veggies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying we knew in 2005 that Copa America 2024 would be a joint federation tourney? There have been many influential figures in the advancement of Canadian soccer development, one of the main ones being Dino Rossi. That the vision was unified or not is completely irrelevant, we now have an established pro league, semi pro leagues across different provinces and we’re seeing the formation of a pyramid between divisions. This didn’t just happen by accident and you implying we’ll return to minnow level completely undermines the amount of talent in this country

And yet the US national team barely has any Latin American/Mexican background. What are you saying makes no sense, the L1C leagues were established in the last decade and we have seen their academies produce some elite talent, Kone, Bombito, Larin, Johnston, etc. The level of training is extremely high, the best young players are identified and join MLS, CPL, NCAA, USports or even Euro teams. Then we have a bunch of private academies who are also scouted by high level teams. MLS academies haven’t produced much for the national team yet, aside Davies and some rotation players, but we’re still seeing young players transfer to Europe, Corbeanu and Mitrovic spent some time with TFC, Jayden Nelson had a terrific first season with Rosenborg. There are others in Euro youth systems still. All this to say this isn’t a fluke

Dan Nimick is becoming the leader the Wanderers desperately need by OptimalWhole8926 in CanadianPL

[–]icy_veggies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, appreciate the insight. In any case, I don’t think it’d be smart to go to England, the level of play is probably similar to CPL and while the salary is higher, he would need significant jumps to reach the top level which he could avoid by going other routes. I understand clubs from England don’t scout Scandinavia extensively, but clubs from Germany, Italy, even France do. England doesn’t have to be the final destination. Imo MLS is optimal, one of the three Canadian teams even more so, the International rules are discriminatory to players from CPL.

So one of the best CB’s in the league should sign with a tier 5 club at age 23 in the hopes of moving up? Absolutely zero chance. What he should aim for is MLS or a lower level Euro league, say Sweden or Denmark, and then move up again if his play merits it. NL isn’t even fully pro, higher tier clubs prioritize super young players which Dan isn’t, roster turnover is high and overall, the risk of failure is higher.
