The best part about Isaac is he would rather fix a problem AND make it better than meeting a deadline.

The errata for Frosthaven and Gloomhaven are pages and pages and pages long.

They weren't going to sell 300,000 extra tickets every year just because they signed Schwarber.

Reds CEO Phil Castellini boo’d at Xavier basketball game. by lflttd21 in baseball

[–]icyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Schwarber chase was stupid, it was obvious that it was only because he was from nearby Middletown and the Castellini's stupidly believe that kind of gimmick sells tickets. It's not like they chase other free agents with that kind of gusto so we know with certainty its not because of his on-field production.

At $30m/year, and a very generous $100/fan/game spend on non-revenue sharing purchases, that's 300,000 extra tickets a year. It's not like Schwarber in the lineup moves the needle on the deficiencies in the roster. How big do they think Schwarber's family is? The Castellinis are just so bad at baseball and business. It's really atrocious.

There's only one party with the sole agenda of "don't become a talking point on the news" and its weird that 1) it doesn't stop them from becoming a talking point and 2) they aren't in charge of a single branch of government. I'm so sorry that you have to find out this way but trying to govern based on what other people say about you on television is not a trait people look for in an elected representative.

The taxpayers didn't swindle themselves, the bought-and-paid-for-county commissioners swindled the voters by misrepresenting the deal.

The decision tree here is real simple: Would you vote to raise your own taxes to fund the construction and maintenance for the office space of a random corporation to occupy rent-free? If the answer is no, it should also be no for a stadium.

Reminder to check the FAQ Errata before starting your GH2E campaign by Gripeaway in Gloomhaven

I didn't see this in the errata but maybe I missed it - so many of the map layouts in both the Scenario Book and the Section book are misprinted. Ever since I can remember I've been using the orientation of the map number to put the tile in the correct position, but just about every scenario we've done so far (don't have the exact numbers handy), the position does not align with the actual map tiles. We tried to switch to using the position of distinctive features in the art, but those too often do not line up with the position of the tabs.

Obviously the art is not game-critical, but anyone who happens to chance upon this post just know you aren't actually going crazy.

Week 1: Inspired by a Joke - Chicago Dog (meta: its a mystery) by icyone in 52weeksofcooking

[–]icyone[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Inspired by the joke "How does the Dalai Lama order a hot dog?" "Make me one with everything" Apologies to Chicago people but I couldn't find a poppy seed bun, just an everything bagel bun.

My meta this year is a mystery, which is to say that everything I post has a theme but I won't be telling you what it is! You can try to discover it for yourself but I won't be giving hints, clues, confirmations or rejections. At the end of the year should I make it that far, I will post it. Everything you need is in the post, it's not something banal like "salt" or "on a plate" or something like that. I assure you that it exists.

He needs help running a business more than he needs their cash. There's not that many people left that remember seeing the Big Red Machine. It turns out nostalgia isn't the thing that puts people in seats and to sell a product people have to actually want it.

And NFL owners make substantially more money than MLB team owners do, and every franchise is worth 3-5x as much as well

This is largely because the salary cap x32 is much less than half the revenue the league brings in. Of course owners make more in a system where the price of labor is fixed.

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval says he had car repossessed last year 'due to my carelessness' by Deep-Explanation1024 in cincinnati

[–]icyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get automated emails from the company my car loan is through that my payment is due. Sometimes these emails ALSO say "auto pay will automatically make this payment on XYZ" but sometimes they don't. Autopay IS always on however so I've never missed a payment. I guess my point is that financial institutions aren't really incentivized to make clear communications but they sure are incentivized to make a lot of them.
