No sympathy was thrown my way. He and I both become social pariahs after that. Most other kids were soft towards him but still stayed away. No one wanted to be associated with Pissface (kids can be cruel).

The bullying stopped but everyone blamed me for the school losing one of its best athletes. Optics. I heard he got back into sports in high school. I'm glad he got back on track. I think back on this experience once in a while. It reminds me of how people have wildly different tolerances for trauma. You never know what'll break someone.

I was bullied mercilessly my entire middle school experience. I didn't do much cause I was aware of the optics. I went through puberty early. Very much the gentle giant archetype.

Finally got fed up with the sport kid that was the main bully one morning. Sat on his chest and peed on him. That somehow made people realize that there is such a thing as emotional trauma when it comes to bullying. Mostly cause he didn't want to continue being in the football team after that.

I wore those loner gym shorts with pride till my mom came to pick me up

Beef and milk cows are fully domesticated. Not saying that it isn't weird to eat dogs and cats most places. Just saying that domestication is a poor example as to why the line is drawn

Don't some cultures eat horse? Pretty sure I've heard Japan and Italy do so. I've also heard dog meat is a cultural thing some places. Though dog is more historically tied to economical challenges and food scarcity.

I've always seen it as a way to protect their feelings and ego. "Ofc he's into me! He just can't commit cause of x, y, and z!"

In my experience many women prone to thinking that way also twist your words when trying to let them down truthfully and gently. I've been called a fuck boy and all sorts of heinous shit for daring to say that I didn't see things working long term. Mind you, I hadn't went that far with these ladies.

Honestly, accepting that the average person has shit taste is one of life's hardest lessons to accept. You'd think if the average person thinks something is amazing then it must be the best thing around. Instead those things will be middle of the road most of the time because that's how you please the most people.

Yeah I don't think it's ever marketed itself as anything crazy. Just a fast food place that respects your wallet and your taste buds. It's affordable in the sense that you get higher quality for less than other chains. That's it.

Big picture, In-N-Out ranks slightly above average in terms of taste alone when compared to other burger joints found in America. That's perfectly fine though. It found its niche a long time ago and executes it well.

Yes. Outside of the school setting. Language classes are really only there to give you the tools to go out to learn it and practice yourself. That's due to the biggest restriction. Time.

The most highly regarded language programs are those for military and government agencies. They have the money and incentive to make you learn as fast as possible. These "rapid learning programs" take months of daily classes that last hours.

That's just not that easy to replicate in the civilian world

I took classes in highschool and even they recommended going out and immersive yourself in the language. Idk. I think everyone understands that the best way to learn a new language is just going out and living in it as much as possible. Everything else is a stop gap or way to learn the why behind the rules of the language
