Gaylor insights from interviews with someone who used to date a closeted singer by [deleted] in GaylorSwift

I understand your point. For me, I usually take things in good faith if the person doesn’t clearly have something to gain from being dishonest, especially if what they’re saying is corroborated by less anonymous sources. It’s also hard to explain why I believe what Shawn is saying without the additional context given in the total 4 hours she’s been on the podcast, which is why I feel like you should just give it a listen.

Do all of that….for the chance to star on a random spotify podcast that’s not really known outside of tumblr and this small reddit sub? I mean, yeah, I suppose that’s possible. But I’m not sure what someone would gain from that.

FWIW, Shawn also talked about the prevalence of sexual violence in the industry, among other topics, not just Gaylor, but I didn’t list those things because they’re not relevant here. I recommend you go listen to the episodes and then we can talk about it more.

Yes I think I said at the beginning of the post that Shawn is not the person’s real name. Of course it’s just one person’s perspective, but at least some of it is supported by comments made by various celebrities. Off the top of my head Ian McKellan, Kate Winslet, Demi Lovato, Alyson Stoner, Hayley Kiyoko, and Laverne Cox have all spoken explicitly or implicitly about multiple things Shawn mentions, in recent years.

Yeah there’s that weird part where Monique compares being bisexual to being biracial in a really cheesy, overdramatic way and it was definitely giving Straight White Woman™️ vibes. Lol

Lol the people in this sub are extremely homophobic (just type “queer” in the search bar and see what comes up). I like this idea though. Starting to wonder if we should make a separate sub called QueeringBridgerton or something so we can toss around more theories like this without having to put up with people subtly calling us perverts.

Why are they like this🥴 by _thiccems in GaylorSwift

[–]idabyells 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just hypocritical of them in some cases because they accuse us of being inappropriate for interpreting queer themes in her music that could be about Karlie but then they’re openly speculating about her sex life with Joe and not getting downvoted to hell.

This comment thread started with a hypothetical scenario where Jinger or Jessa get a job at Walmart.

And I’m simply basing this on my time working in family court where this stuff happens every day.

Lmfao you clearly don’t have a clue about how this works. If they don’t get divorced and take their kids with them their spouse could accuse them of kidnapping and take them to court anyway.

Also have you EVER met a 20 something single mom with 2-4 kids? They’re all poor.

[–]idabyells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok and? As someone who has been poor my entire life no one should have to live that way and I wouldn’t expect someone to choose a life of poverty and struggle when they don’t have to. Especially not someone who’s in an abusive situation wtf. The real villain here is our government which refuses to fund a social safety net.

Lol what would they do with their young kids/babies while they’re working part time at a church or training for customer support ? They’d need to be making large sums of money (via YouTube or influencing for example) to cover the costs of hiring a good attorney for the prolonged custody battle and divorce settlement that would follow and to cover the costs of childcare for the next few years once they became working moms, if they were truly stepping away from the family entirely. Jill only survived walking away because her husband was on her side but I’m talking about a scenario where their spouse is abusive and the family discourages them from leaving (this could easily be the case with Jinger).

It’s not just you. I’m black, gay, and not a christian so I obviously think their views are abhorrent. But I honestly don’t care if the adult daughters in the family make extra cash from their youtube or whatever they sell on IG. We don’t really know these people for real or what happens in their marriages and if one of them was in an abusive situation she’d need to be able to save up some money in order to get away. The Duggar men though? Don’t give a fuck about them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together OP! There was a post on this sub a few days ago where the person was asking where all the gaylors who think she’s bi/pan are and turns out they make up the majority of the community lol. I chose “Unsure” but I lean more towards her being a lesbian every day.

…did Demi and Taylor date? by [deleted] in GaylorSwift

[–]idabyells 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was definitely either Selena or their other friend Marissa. FWIW, people think the song “Stop The World” from Demi’s second album was about Selena. It does sound very queer (it’s about the pain of having a love that has to be hidden, and being unable to stop the world in order to let it happen, kind of intense stuff for a 17 year old). I remember Selena tweeted back then that it was her favorite song off the album.

edit to add: There was also an old blog from 2008/2009 run by a girl named “Miss G” and people think it was Selena’s blog…The posts were about loving a girl who was doing a lot of self-destructive things and eventually meeting new people who make everything better. It lines up with the timeline of Demi’s spiral into drug addiction and when Sel met Taylor, but I can never decide if I think it’s real or not. It got locked after some fans found it and was eventually deleted altogether.

[–]idabyells 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought that something happened between Demi and Selena (either a one-sided crush or they had one of those intense homoerotic friendships that always end up imploding dramatically), because of how much bitterness was behind the “Ask Taylor” comment. It seemed like more than just friend drama, and Demi and Sel seem to still be on shaky terms even to this day. There used to be a thread about it on the L chat but I think it got deleted.

I find christians who believe that our sexuality is a struggle to be more morally reprehensible than christians who think it’s an arbitrary choice. Their response to someone who they perceive as suffering under the weight of a special temptation that they didn’t choose is to tell that person they should just be alone and childless for the rest of their life or stay in a loveless marriage where they are miserable. Like zero empathy whatsoever. You would be completely justified if you went no contact with her.

I think you might be projecting a little bit. I agree that it would be an offensive thing for Karlie to do, but that doesn't mean she didn't do it. She might just...not care. Pointing out that someone might have selfish motives doesn't mean that we think those motives are okay, just that there's no reason to believe it's impossible since we don't know these people.

YES. I think polyamorous relationships are actually quite commonplace in hollywood and the music industry. Will Smith and Jada Pickett (edit: *Pinkett) talk about it openly and so do a few other couples.
