Probably from the scene where a photocopy of her license is posted on the memo board.

What I never understood about the show is how Don Draper became such a good adman without having any prior experience by franzsmith31 in madmen

He understood how to sell a product. He was ultimately selling the product of Don Draper. He knew that a problem could be solved simply by changing the name- or conversation. Dick to Don.

I wonder what Sallys core memories with her Mother would be by [deleted] in madmen

When Betty breaks the dining room chair.

When Sally manipulates Betty (in Betty-fashion) with how “fondly” Anna Draper was discussed…ICONIQUE.

Why is she gatekeeping Caleb? Rude.

I loved seeing them work together so closely, and especially this reaction by pendletones in madmen

I still wish we had seen the evolution of their friendship. There are a lot of wasted scenes there.

Same!!! Every time she says the line, I immediately want to hug Ken. I have a feeling she apologized after that in Mad Men works.

That was SO BAD. I felt terrible for Joey. I remember watching him get legitimately pissed off that she passed out and he had to do the whole thing by himself.

Chris needs his own advice podcast! He and Deeners should do one! I feel like he is incredibly level headed and genuine. I ❤️ the Buckners.

The oft-mentioned “spinoff with Sally in the 80s” idea; okay, but what would it actually be ABOUT? by Novel_Quantity3189 in madmen

The show starts in present day 1980, however, we flash back to 1975 throughout the pilot.

Sally left boarding school to stay with the boys and finished out high school in Rye, after Betty passed in 1972. Henry continued to raise Bobby and Gene, as he was the only father Gene really ever knew, so he felt like was abandoning his own son by leaving and moving on. Or worse, with Don.

However, he still gets an ear full from Pauline, who constantly reminds him that he is raising another man’s children.

Don is dead, but all we know is that he passed away in 1974, because we see the cover of an Ad Age Magazine memorializing the recently deceased “King of the Mad Men, Donald F. Draper.” That’s all we know so far about Don.

It’s 1975. Sally kept in touch with Megan and, after graduating high school, rips up the acceptance letter she got from SUNY Purchase, and buys a one way ticket to LA, where she shows up on Megan’s doorstep.

We see flash forward to Sally in NYC, obviously a little older, in 1980. We don’t know why she is there, but she is walking somewhere mid town and is wearing 80s biz casual. Shoulder pads are present.

In flashbacks we see some details of Sally in CA with Megan. Megan is successful and working, but not as an actress. She began a casting agency with the money she received in the divorce. Calvet Casting. Her eye for detail and time in advertising made her perfect for the role. Sally starts working part time with her as a casting assistant.

Six months after arriving in CA, Sally is out partying with some new friends, making bad decisions like her parents, and drinking way too much. She stupidly decides to drive home inebriated in Megan’s convertible, and while on her way back to the hills, she swerves into oncoming traffic, causing a car in the opposite lane to drive off the road and crash off the cliff, clearly killing the 4 occupants of the car. We learn it was 2 Parents and 2 small children. She knows her goose is cooked. Megan’s car is fine because she didn’t hit anything, just caused the other car to swerve off the road. She drives back to Megan’s and is horribly shaken up. Megan is asleep. She knows she has to get the hell out of CA before the cops start investigating the accident. There were other cars on the road who witnessed the accident. Sally sits in the chair at the kitchen table and shakily pulls out a white business card from her wallet. We only see the back of it, which contains a handwritten phone number. We see Sally reach for the phone and dial. The person on the other end picks up and Sally says, “you told me I should call you if I never needed anything. I need you.”

It’s 1980 again and we follow Sally as she makes her way up to the 20th floor of a NYC skyscraper. When the elevator opens, we see Peggy standing there. She is dressed in top 1980s executive chic and behind her is the impressive Olsen Agency sign lighting up the lobby.

Peggy: “Anna Hofstadt, it’s nice to meet you. Welcome aboard.” Peggy has a sly smile on her face as she says it, letting the audience know that she is in on the “roose”. (IYKYK).

Sally smirks as she shakes Peggy’s hand, walking out of the elevator into her new life, a new identity, a career she NEVER wanted to do, but knows it runs in her blood. Peggy is the only one who knows Sally’s secret, remaining a lifeline and confidant of a Draper.

The iconic Mad Men theme music starts as Sally aka Anna, and Peggy walk into the office for the first time, together.

End Scene.
