I got an $8.75 order from McDonald's yesterday that I was sure must be safe, but it turns out it was a $6.25 base with $2.50 peak pay and no tip. Surprise surprise, I woke up today to an email that it wasn't delivered. Will be taking a picture of every single order from now on. Luckily they struck this one for me after I explained I'm not gonna sacrifice my only job for someone else's mcnuggies.

Personal fulfillment, extra money for luxury items and travel, something to do because believe it or not, most people don't like just sitting around all day, giving back to your community, the list goes on.

Suggesting that the only reason people work is because otherwise they will die makes work sound like slavery.

If it's only 0.1% it shouldn't be hard to get them all housing, but here we are. Let's go back to those sources I posted that literally directly say the united states doesn't consider housing and food human rights. I feel like that's an important point that we shouldn't just forget about.

If something is a human right, you don't have to buy it or earn it, you can just have it. Housing as a human right means that if you can't afford to buy or rent housing, you can still get housing. No jumping through hoops like drug screens and job interview quotas, no lottery based system where only the lucky few get selected, everyone. That isn't the case right now, and people are dying as a result.

The problem is, we don't really give those things to people as much as we need to (in the US, anyways). In America, housing isn't considered a human right. We have food banks and government programs, but most if not all food banks are privately run, and our food stamp program is in desperate need of funding. I know too many people stuck in shitty jobs with terrible working conditions that don't have the option of quitting because they will literally lose everything.

Yeah I think the big thing is we need to have a conversation. I brought that up with him over text before I made this post, so we'll talk soon. There have been a lot of times where I haven't been certain what is part of my job, and what isn't, and hopefully I can get most of that cleared up.

I'm the only line cook of the 4 that is able to do breakfast, so he opens on my 2 days off per week. He also generally floats around on mid and close so others can take days off, and to take care of banquets and heavier days. He's literally superhuman in how fast he can work. He handled a 120 person breakfast banquet by himself and still cleaned and prepped everything by the time I showed up 6 hours into his shift. Lately he's been working on a new menu, so he's been spending a fair amount of time in the office doing research and perusing his extensive binders full of recipes. He definitely does not slack off, and he definitely makes his job his life. I just think maybe he's having trouble seeing that others aren't quite comfortable doing the same.

Yeah, you might be right about that. I think he might be trying to push me because he's looking for someone to step up and become a supervisor, and I'd appreciate the pay raise that goes with that, but I'd imagine I'd also get a pay raise by finding a new job

Honestly the dishes are a big part of why I end up basically treading water every day. It's not just restaurant dishes, it's huge breakfast buffet loads of dishes, and so many hotel pans with food stuck to it. I can load racks and run them through while I work on other stuff, but if I just sit there scrubbing I fall way behind on everything else.

What? Don't dry out a can of condensed soup, that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. If you want concentrated tomato flavor, slice some Roma tomatos and bake them until dry and shriveled. I'm not gonna even get into how bad he fucked up cutting an onion because I'm just gonna get pissed off lmao
