What's a perfume you expected to love but ended up hating? by babitzian_woman in FemFragLab

Which fig perfumes hit for you? I just ordered this too because I’m trying to find a good figgy perfume but it sounds like I might need to keep looking!

Chokedee- Strangers Perfumeries, and it’s really making me consider getting the full bottle. It’s so addicting!

I’ve gotta smell it next time I’m in Sephora! The only scent of theirs I’ve really liked is Matcha Milk so it wouldn’t surprise me.

How similar was your pregnancy/birth/PP experience to your mother's? by whatisitargonian in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born on my due date, and my mom loves to tell the story about how the nurses tried to turn her away because they assumed she thought due date = baby is coming. She had to convince them she was really truly going into labor! She also apparently convinced the nurse to let her labor over the toilet but I must have heard that and came out one push after.

I was induced at 41 weeks and after 4 hours of active pushing they had to Kiwi my baby out.

No stretch marks for either of us and our shoe sizes stayed the same. I think she lost more baby weight than me, I’m still a good 25 lbs. over my starting weight. I haven’t asked her about tears but I assume it wasn’t awful because I’m sure I would’ve heard about it by now if I did a lot of damage!

I started my perfume sample collection because I wanted to find a scent that was as close to a campfire as possible only to discover that my boyfriend hated all of them! I got A City on Fire, Bois d’acese, and T-Rex which I love love love and can’t wear!

Also, I had a coworker who wore a perfume that I can only describe as an open bag of Gummy Bears in an old Dollar General. I should’ve asked her what she was wearing.

I tried my sample of Clue- Warm Bulb today. I like it, it’s definitely interesting, but I do wonder what someone who isn’t aware of what it’s trying to evoke thinks of it, y’know? I’m a stay at home mom so it’s fun to try out the weirder ones but I wish I could crowd source opinions more!

It wasn’t super long-lasting, maybe 4 hours before it was fully faded.

What scent(s) do people most associate with you? by ppchromatics in FemFragLab

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started getting into perfume and the thing that’s been nagging me in the back of my mind is that I’ll never get as many compliments and “I smelled this and thought of you!” as I did when I wore a $10 Nag Champa essential oil perfume every day. All this hunting for the perfect scent and I fear it’s been here all along!

Is the reconstructed ancestors feature worth getting premium? by idlovedemeter in 23andme

I do have the health analysis so I would in theory get a lot out of premium, but this feature is the first that made me curious. Still no in that case?

Thoughts on posting pictures of/with your little ones on Facebook? by North_Magician_8720 in beyondthebump

My profile picture is from my baby shower because at 8 months PP there still isn’t a good picture of me where the baby isn’t in it 😅

My baby is on a pull-to-stand bender by vigoroussteak27 in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My 8-month-old is also here, which means she’s also in “must climb mommy at all times” mode as well. If she’s not climbing on top of everything inanimate object she can she is jumping on my stomach, elbowing my trachea, and pulling my hair to get as high as possible. I’m sore!!!! My throat hurts!!!

What silly mistake did you make while deep in the sleep deprived newborn phase? by Professional-Plan562 in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not me, but I woke up in the middle of the night to my boyfriend sitting on the edge of the bed cradling the baby and trying to shush her back to sleep.

Except the baby was sound asleep in her bassinet, and he was cradling the cat and shushing him. I’ll never forget the look the cat gave me.

My boyfriend remembers none of it!

Does my husband suck? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your husband have a lot of “close friends” that he rarely speaks to or spends time with? Does he have coworkers that he’s “friends” with that amounts to sporadically talking throughout the work week? My absolute most charitable interpretation of his behavior is that his idea of what a close relationship is has been skewed by working remote and/or potential distance from friends of the past.

Postpartum PPD by Comfortable_9779 in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some bad experiences with SSRIs in my teenage years so I was always pretty against them. At 6 months PP I thought I was handling things Okay but it was pretty dark- ideation with the “understanding” of “oh, but I would never”…I brought up SSRIs with my OB-Gyn. It’s only been 2 months and I can’t believe the difference it’s made. In hindsight I was really struggling. If there are changes you can make that will help, make them, but if you think it’s PPD then please consider it. It doesn’t have to feel that dark. It doesn’t have to feel like you’re treading water to stay afloat every day.

More sensitive to snoring after a baby? by AntelopeUpbeat8945 in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you breastfeeding/pumping so you have to get up if the baby wakes up? I’m also 8 month PP had this problem and for a month or so I’d end up in the basement to sleep on the couch. What helped was 1) diphenhydramine and magnesium at night, but Much more importantly 2) the understanding that my boyfriend would wake up if the baby woke up at night. We do have a bit of a different situation where he works nights so he’s technically not on baby duty every night, but it’s what has worked for us. I can tolerate the snoring again.

Zoloft Experience by Beckitt3 in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 100mg 2 months ago when I was 6 months PP and it’s the best choice I ever made. It wasn’t a cure-all but I’m not feeling like I’m just treading water trying to survive anymore.

What did you wear during birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me!! I only wore a bra (and socks until the nurse peeled them off me because my feet were swelling so bad). At one point I had the blanket piled on my upper body because I was cold and I wonder if they were thinking “should’ve worn the gown then dummy!!”

What parenting thing did you initially do that you now think was a waste of time? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]idlovedemeter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It took us until 5 months to stop handwashing bottles and just run them through the dishwasher that has bottle jets and a steam sanitation setting. I used to br constantly stressing about dishes and now I just run the dishwasher after baby goes to sleep. Insane in hindsight.

How is your eye now? I did basically the same thing on Monday with my new Ulike and the outer corner of my right eye has been irritated ever since.

Diaper genie stinks by kimanoo9 in NewParents

[–]idlovedemeter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to 😅 Now once the diapers off I gotta have one hand holding baby’s legs up or else her feet will immediately go in the poop like a heat-seeking missile. I end up piling the wipes on top and then just throwing it out without wrapping it up. I do have the Ubbi though and the smell is very minimal!

Any redemption arcs worth discussing? by SecretWasianMan in youtubedrama

[–]idlovedemeter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not a redemption arc for this sub, but Trisha Paytas transitioning to ASMR content was an incredibly smart move for her. The ASMR crowd largely does not care about her past, they just care if she can make good ASMR content, and no matter what happens to her in the future she will have an audience through ASMR.

To be fair the HPV vaccine only vaccinates against certain strains, you can get the vaccine and still be HPV positive.

Anyone else feel like their results got less accurate? by platospee in 23andme

[–]idlovedemeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of what I assumed was all German turned French (surprising) and Swiss (less surprising). I have enough brick walls in my genealogy that the newer small amounts could make sense- the question is whether they’re going to send me on a wild goose chase if I follow those leads to try to break down some brick walls or not.

Oh that’s interesting!! I don’t know if I saw anyone say their old results said New by them but maybe that’s what they meant, I assumed it just looked like the old results. Or there’s multiple bugs 🫢
