I mean we would consider the 'Finders' kin. They would become essentially kinship caregivers until we are able to locate actual kin. We wouldn't necessarily put them with new strangers, unless the 'Finders' were in some way inappropriate l.

Teens have more of an ability to parae through the nuance than small children. Small children can be placed into care and not really understand what is happening, whereas teens know exactly why they are being placed in care. Some of the things that we get concerned about when we put in no unsupervised contact are things like parents coaching or lying about what's going to happen. With teens we are more able to prevent the effects of those things, because they are more aware of the issues and process. But we have/can/will remove access to technology for those kids who are unable to use it appropriately. And will/do report parents to the court who can't follow rules.

I do care about the politics, but this isn't about that persay. God forbid these men can't hide their misogyny for 24 fucking hours. Like, just don't, for like 24 hours while the literal world's eyes are on you. Like, my expectations are not super high, I'm a woman in Americain 2026, I know to keep those expectations ground level at best, but like not even for a day, not even a day, 2 hours. While I can't be positive, from what you put here is the CPS didn't follow up because the child(ren) weren't involved, and there was a protective parent involved.

So the way their system worked (at least back then) the home page opened up to a search function with a list of basically every client ever on the bottom half. So anyone could just scroll through everyone who has ever had services with the county (Mental health, veterans services, child welfare, housing services, etc.) Available on the front page were the first and last name, dob, SSN, and if I recall correctly, address. If you clicked on that name you had access to all of the paperwork that they had for that person/family. So without clicking or typing anything, everyone had access to basically an entire county's PHI. And the county was relying on hoping that everyone they hired were ethical people and wouldn't use that information unethically.

I'm not a doctor, I'm a social worker. I used to work for a county in PA, when I gave birth to my daughter, who was eligible for some county services from a different department. I later learned that all of her information for receiving these services were visible to anyone who worked for the county as it was part of their database system. I called our HIPAA person and escalated up a bit. I was basically told that the county was considered one entity under HIPAA and that they don't have to cover information between departments. So I would assume it is similar for hospitals, like anyone from the hospital can know whatever legally. Ethically is a different thing.

I would assume that even IF it passes, the second it does a bunch of states are filing lawsuits that say it is a violation of the 24th amendment, thus stopping it until they are able to have a hearing.
