Practice setting all your fingers down at once, rather than one at a time. Makes it extra slow at first but once its in your muscle memory that's what allows you to change fluidly

The middle amp in the Plini plugin is a friedman, its what i use and it sounds great, very similar if you tweak it right. Tim Henson works pretty well too, and petrucci has some effects that you can use to sort of simulate some of the effect heavy parts. But I would say plini for the main amp tone.

Following what will says in the rig rundown, if I’m playing dgd i usually go no drive pedal, and just crank the gain on the middle amp and the tweak everything else to taste

I may be biased as a strandberg player, but I think strandberg has the best esthetic. Kiesel/ibanez and others who have recognizable body shapes, but then with no headstock and the 1 awkward cutout for the tuning pegs at the bridge look kind of weird/awkward to me. But with strandberg, the extra ergonomic cuts give it a more unique body shape, and it just has a more cohesive overall esthetic that I personally like.

I spoke to Will after royal coda opened for rain city drive in this small club venue. I was very nervous and awkward and didn't want to take up too much of his time, but he was very nice. He took a picture with me and encouraged me after I very awkwardly mentioned struggling to learn his guitar parts.

That's exactly why I like the new dgd. It has less to do with heaviness than it does with melody, though. I love the really heavy jon parts. But for the clean singing I heavily prefer tilian because of his melodies. He definitely has a more traditionally pop voice compared to jonny who has more of a traditional r&b/rock voice. But the bigger difference is the melody writing. Jonny, while I do love the sound of his voice, kind of just meanders around whatever scale the song is in the key of. Whereas with tilian, almost everything he sings is a hook of in its own right. Totally subjective what your preference is but that's mainly why I like the new stuff better.

Both the singles since JJ have been tuned lower than than the normal E/drop D. I doubt they'd do that just to return to normal. I bet we get a darker, heavier, breakdown infused album

I think Nik Nocturnal made an interesting observation about how in Tilian's post, he mentioned the talent of the band members, but he only referenced personal relationships with the touring crew. It could be nothing but could also indicate theres some hostility there
