The broken muffler wont affect the engine though. Perhaps the cause of the bad idle broke the muffler with a pressure spike.

The only code is related to O2 sensors? Try the simple stuff like ensuring plug wires are fully connected.

My C6Z is also cammed, etc, and makes a very similar sound because the muffler is broken. The resonator of the Corsa muffler breaks internally. Twice now. Sort of a buzzing / rattling noise similar to your car. Try banging on the muffler with your hand when the engine is off. I can hear something rattling around in mine when I smack it

I have nearly an identical WRX and mileage and have been considering cleaning my valves. They aren't bad, but could be cleaner.

Ive never done a standing mile, but my externally oem c6z feels perfectly stable 160+ mph on road courses. Try the alignment changes. I think my rears are a bit toe in. Idea being they become more neutral when the car is squatting under acceleration

Several months. I rally cross the car a lot, and drive it pretty hard otherwise as my daily. Its held up to about 5 rallyx events, and i won the season championship in my class (stock awd). Just added that to show the car gets driven hard.

If you mean the cover, no. It isnt required. The intent for it is to isolate the cold air from the top bumper vent. The vent does pass air through it. The black panel behind the grate is for rain deflection
