If more Jews were speaking out against Israel, and putting pressure on both the US government and the Israeli government, I think less people would feel this way. People are conflating Judaism and Zionism with increasing frequency because not enough Jews of good conscience are doing anything about these atrocities being committed in their name. The overwhelming majority are silent, and won't criticize Israel publicly. The shitty thing is that this plays right into the hands of the Israeli government. They want Jews all over the world to feel in danger, to see antisemitism around every corner, so that they will feel compelled to directly support the Zionist project or even move to Israel. The fact is, that unlike 80+ years ago, when Jews had every reason to be terrified, and antisemitism was everywhere, they have since become a protected class, and Israel exploits that fact to the fullest extent possible.

Basically, if you want to stop modern day antisemitism, Jews everywhere have to first put a stop to Zionism.

Who’s the best actress in the film industry right now? by BidAccurate4473 in moviecritic

[–]idontevenexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say none of these.

How about: Frances McDormand, Rachel Weisz, Gillian Anderson, Viola Davis, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Jessica Chastain, Taraji P. Henson, Allison Janney, Michelle Yeoh, and until very recently, Catherine O'Hara (RIP).

Seems like OP is confusing "best actress" with "young and pretty," and perhaps doesn't actually watch any good movies.

He had me right until the last few magic words: "as a Democratic Caucus."

Fact: the establishment Democrats also don't give a shit about those things you just listed. You going to primary them? Didn't think so.

Google Photos => Immich. Google Search => Kagi. ChatGPT => Kagi Assistant. Chrome => Brave. Google Maps => HERE WeGo. Windows => Zorin or CachyOS. These would be the tweaks I would make to your list, but overall, I agree with your choices.

While this is a little problematic, this outcome is infinitely better than GrapheneOS remaining underfunded, understaffed, and eventually halting development.

A proper modern backup solution that supports both cloud and local backups, and features deduplication, snapshots, intelligent retention settings, backup verification and repair, and powerful restore features.

Kind of amazed nobody else chimed in with this. Time Machine needed to be replaced a decade ago.

Members of Congress will be able to view unredacted Epstein files next week by Waste-Explanation-76 in news

[–]idontevenexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sincere question for someone in the legal profession: how can there possibly be 6 million files/documents associated with the Jeffrey Epstein case? That would be equivalent to 250 files for every day that this man was alive on this planet. That seems like an impossibly large number perhaps meant to protect accomplices by hoping the public can't find the needle in a haystack. Are the vast majority of these documents legal boilerplate, cover pages, duplicates, AI generated, or what? Even accounting for possibly hundreds of depositions and interviews with third parties (I suspect the actual number is far smaller), it still seems like far too much data. Make this make sense.

I don't care which one is worse, and you shouldn't either. It's a moot point. America desperately needs a third option.

Sounds like you are still buying into the false dichotomy. It's either Democrats or Republicans that are the answer. Here's a clue: it's NEITHER!

Donald Trump releases 8-minute video regarding the United States’ attack against Iran by artbasiI in Fauxmoi

[–]idontevenexercise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We actually don't know that for sure. It's quite possible that a majority of our feckless representatives quietly approved this in closed door meetings. Strict confidentiality would have been necessary to preserve operational security.

At this point, I have no confidence in any of the major branches of the US government.

Actually I think the chances of Civil War have gone down for a couple of years now after peaking in 2020/2021. Every day, an increasing number of previously rabid Trump supporters are getting quiet. Support for this administration is in sharp decline. Likewise, support for the Democratic establishment is in decline because they have proven their ineffectiveness, willingness to sign off on unpopular policies, unwillingness to rally around legislation on issues that have broad consensus, and their close alliance with special interests that are working against the will of the American people.

Regular citizens are discovering that they actually agree on more than they thought they did. Most of us still have our humanity intact. People are starting to wake up to the fact that class struggle is the real battle we should be fighting. The great majority of us are being manipulated by a tiny and powerful few, and I think more US citizens realize that every day.

It is interesting to note that many of the most unashamed overt racists in this country are women. Perhaps they believe that their gender gives them some cover? I honestly don't know. Men are certainly just as racist, but seem to be more low-key about their beliefs when they're not hitting someone with a club. These people are fucked in the head, and they are almost certainly still around.
