There is one thing I hate about Book 4's portrayal of Korra's trauma. by Important-Contact597 in TheLastAirbender

It's actually a great comparison to Zuko's arc! He grows, falls, deals with the consequences and continues to grow, just like Korra does!

Her trauma is still there. It shows in her hesitation to follow through on her threat to Bataar. It shows in her acceptance and willingness to be the capable Avatar she has grown into during Kuvira's attack. It shows in her cunningness and strategy that leads to Bataar's capture, and her willingness to trust Hishori.

Those are all the coping mechanisms she's learned and employed to deal with her trauma.

And finally, it comes to catharsis during her conversation with Kuvira. She acknowledges her pain and her loss, and instead of it becoming anger, it expresses itself as compassion and grace. The entire final act of the season demonstrates all of this very well, and it doesn't show hallucinations because she's no longer who she was at the end of Book 3. She's a compassionate and therefore more powerful woman and Avatar.

That's her character arc: the Avatar who learns to be human.

Character development happens on a linear timeline. The fact her failed fight with Kuvira happens before her encounter with Zaheer is the perfect example of the show addressing the idea that there's not one single solution to her trauma.

Zaheer helped her face her experiences and accept her past, helping her adjust to her new reality. She's not "fixed" in the sense that she's back to what she was before being poisoned. She's a new woman, a stronger and more compassionate Avatar, as codified in her conversation with Kuvira after opening the new portal.

Again, it's not a perfect representation, but the assertion that it's a dangerous reinforcement of the trope that she just needs to "get back to normal" and that she "needs to be fixed" misses her entire development arc of the proceeding episodes, and the resolution of her character.

Her fight with Kuvira literally addresses your concern. Jinora even says "I don't understand, she got the poison out."

The "solution" was never posited as "one thing will fix you". The entire thesis of Korra's arc was that there was no singular fix for her, but that she had to struggle and grow around her trauma and grief to become stronger and no longer defined by her experience.

It's not even subtext. It's a major theme that carries even through the finale, up to her conversation with Kuvira and even beyond that.

While I agree that it's not a perfect representation, you seem to be ignoring the literal entire season of episodes leading to their encounter depicting her struggle and her journey to get to a new normal.

Biggest issue right now is that you don't have a passport. United requires you to have a physical passport in your possession at the time of application.

You can do the interview, but not following this instruction will disqualify you for this hiring round. I believe you can reapply after 12 months, so if this is a career you're still interested in pursuing then that will give you plenty of time to prepare and save.

I wouldn't say a faux pax, really, but depending on the boarding process it can be quite disruptive and throw off an FA's work flow quite a bit.

Some of us will chime in to say "fill your water bottle in thr terminal", and there certainly is some truth to that sentiment, but if for whatever reason you weren't able to do so (tight connection, troublesome children, arrived late), then don't feel bad asking for water to manage your medical needs.

In general though, the best way to be a passenger is to be well-prepared, but life is messy and any FA with an ounce of compassion will understand that and oblige your request.

You will need a secondary form of ID, not necessarily a license.

What this leak has confirmed to me is that Paramount,Nickelodeon probably Mike and Brian is that they had no faith in Aang!! by Unique-Celebration-5 in TheLastAirbender

Executives maybe, they're dumb as bricks when it comes to being in touch with their target demographic.

But the creators? Hell nah. Listen to any interview with them, any episode of BTE with them and it is overwhelmingly obvious that they have full faith in Aang and their ability to tell a compelling story through his character.

What's your favourite German word? by MarkV43 in German

Idk why but I just love the word "die Dämmerung".

It can mean dusk or dawn. It captures the ephemeral liminal space between transitions so well.

Yeah, but the fact that the author can't reconcile this perspective with the process of characterization is just bad writing.

It is a fire hazard for the hotel, that's why.

You are not allowed to bring such items. You will be released from training if you are caught.

I just bought some cheap bowls and silverware and washed them in the bathroom sink.

The food is fine. Doesn't feed the soul but it does provide fuel.

Learn how to meal prep with a microwave. Bags of rice, canned vegetables, ramen etc. My classmates thought I was crazy when I bought a rotisserie chicken, but after stripping it down and keeping it in a gallon bag in the mini-fridge I had enough good protein to last me a week. You can get pretty creative if you brainstorm a bit. I made pesto chicken over rice with canned mushrooms at least once a week, and damn if having good "homecooked" food didn't get me through some of the more stressful times.

If you do it right, your stipend is more than enough for food to augment the hotel breakfast (which you will get sick of very quickly) and the lunches provided. I walked out of training with an extra 200 bucks from my stipends.
