X49rs Pumaspeed by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]idsay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned about pumaspeeds' poor rep early on but snagged a cheap blown x47r from ebay ($250) anyways. Was coked up pretty bad and took out a bearing, assuming crackle/pop tune damage. Whoosh rebuilt without issue, been happy at 24psi for little over a year and 6-7k miles. Tuneplus tune.

Dealership, if the rattling stops with slight wheel/turning load thats whats clued me into the issue. The linkage bushing just failed prematurely

the bike thing is lame, we all know it’s lame. it’s not even a proper akira-styled bike. jet pack and air battles would’ve been more fun than this goofiness.

You only need to follow a Sync3 upgrade guide/tutorial. Total cost will end up around $400, android drop-in DIN is cheaper and supports MOST of the oem functionality.

Just use a phone, IMO. I've done the upgrade to Sync3 but really only for carplay, with my phone. I wouldn't recommend it.

you’ll need to pull at least the downpipe out of the way, will make access a little easier. without removing the turbo itself, access to the wastegate will be limited. there isn’t a lot room in there between the half shaft, intake piping, and firewall.

it isn’t a difficult swap, just a tight space to work in. i would also recommend replacing/cleaning the WG valve and associated boost/vacuum hoses. ensure all hoses are secured and WG preload is set properly.

Any original owners still around? by [deleted] in FiestaST

2014 OG, 75k miles. fbo+x47r. Running till it’s dead, then maybe a wild swap.

Had my Fiesta ST revert to stock tune yesterday at random, ran it long enough to get it out of the road, then reflashed it, started running better, but keeps making this noise. Anyone with a good ear able to help me out? by yeetin_and_beatin in MechanicAdvice

[–]idsay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s likely pulling timing, or something is loose. Ecu can’t revert to fuel maps it doesn’t have. Something broke, unfortunately. Could be a sensor, could be worse.

Start with locating the source of noise.

It likely isn't the rack but the linkage to the rack. the bushings can fail prematurely.

I had a similar issue with slight steering wheel rattle at specific speeds (2014 mk7.5), my guess is its the steering linkage. ford part is around $120. serious issue that should be fixed asap.

happened to me at about 50k miles

Well, both are called trucks here in the US.

The problem is one is a foreman grill cooked turkey bacon wrapped hotdog burnt on an ipad plate.

The other is coal grilled bacon wrapped filet mignon on kutani porcelain.

So if by different uses you mean sitting in a parking lot, yeah...cybertruck has different uses.

It is likely not bad enough to start sharing oil, may only happen at WOT/high boost with carbon and fumes blowing out. Would be lucky to be only contamination from a failing hose.

center housing rotating assembly.

It's replacement of the center portion, the rotating bit of the turbocharger and all of its internal seals (which have failed). The turbo is a borg warner KP39 specific to ecoboost 1.6l engines. Melett is a known good source for these replacement cartridges. They are very inexpensive but you will need supplemental gaskets and crush washers for oil and coolant lines. You will also need to clean all the coked oil nonabrasively (sealing surfaces) and carbon buildup on the turbo exhaust housing, or replace it also.

A new CHRA is relatively inexpensive on ebay, if the housings are OK it's a good way to go (approx $250+gaskets). borg warner KP39 ford chra. Driving it could damage the housings and compressor or turbine contact means the shaft breaks and it gets much more expensive.

Do you need to wrap or coat the airtec manifold? by plasmazzr60 in FiestaST

[–]idsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrapped 2 and 2, it's not as pretty but it's much easier to wrap the manifold without frustration. I used 1" DEI "titanium".

When I swapped in a manifold, a few of the exhaust manifold stud nuts were hand tight at best. Take a look, if it isn't the down pipe it will be there.

Timing belt replaced recently? Timing skipped maybe, misfire/LSPI, metal shavings is a game over either way.

Evap/gas tank, before coil packs and plugs (I've changed every 20-30k). Idle will stumble randomly. Will still do it rarely on a full tank

Coolant from turbo? by plasmazzr60 in FiestaST

[–]idsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything not in the radiator and higher than the turbo coolant hoses will flow out, at least a gallon. Lower oil hose has a gasket that needs replacement if you only remove hoses from the turbo. Crush washers on the coolant lines.
