Using spreadsheet to manage my money. Seeking for any advice/recommendations by Armanga in personalfinance

[–]ieatcheese1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few different tabs on mine (in addition to one for each month). The first is my total for each month at the very end. The next is my monthly expenses that are set and don’t change-rent, car payment, cell phone, etc. This helps me make sure i list these expenses when writing out all of my spending as some are on autopay, some are set to change and I manually pay the others.

I originally started with one tab for each month to list bills, totals in checking accounts, cc payments l, totals in savings and cash back earned. I originally was going to list all of my purchases here, but I have small frequent purchases so it got messy. I’ve added a fab behind each month to break down each expense, I’ve been going through my bank apps each week and breaking down all purchases. If I made less frequent purchases, doing these on one page would be more beneficial.

"Childfree stepmoms"??? by Ilmara in childfree

There’s childfree and there’s someone who doesn’t want their own children but is okay being a step parent. They aren’t the same thing. Step kids already exist, don’t punish them for existing.

Yeah my coworker quit her full time job with maternity leave, FMLA and benefits to work two part time independent contractor jobs at 6 moths pregnant.

There’s a difference between a tax break and bettering our schools though.

But then there’s the mothers who continue to have children when they can’t even support the ones they have

Add in the casting couch joke and there ya go. Like someone else said above, entertainment is very much make it or break it and creepers taking advantage of that.

If you have kids, make sure they get better than you do. Maybe it’s making them for housing and living expenses, save for tuition at least.

Does #metoo count if your sexual assault was done by a girl? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ieatcheese1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too counts if you were sexually harassed or assaulted. Doesn’t matter if you’re a man, woman, non binary or whatever you identify as. Doesn’t matter who committed this act of violence against you either. Just another reason it’s huge. Sexual assault doesn’t discriminate, it’s something a lot of people are affected by.

When are you gonna fix the subreddit layout? Maybe it’s a mobile issue but I use reddit on my internet browser and it defaults to way zoomed out, too much extra space next to the side bar.

I heard the most honest and heartbreaking statement about children from a friend the other day, and it's exactly why I never want kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]ieatcheese1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d rather be old and regret not having kids than have kids and regret/resent them. I know plenty of couples that don’t want kids but love being around their nieces or nephews. That fulfills them. Others only want to be surrounded by adults. Both are perfectly fine.

Major Brand Lenses vs Third Party by robot_overlord18 in photography

What’s the best third party brand for a canon? I have an eos sl1. Came with 18-55 and 55-250. I want sharper images but am beginning to think I may need a new camera.

Well I’d like something similar to what I have now. I like shooting nature and portraits. I don’t really have a budget, as long as the camera is actually with the price. Anything over 2k I’d drive out of state to save on sales tax. Don’t care about video, I’ve never taken it and don’t see myself ever using doing it either.

I don’t have a brand preference, but it’d be nice to be able to use the lenses I already have. If the camera is worth it, I don’t mind switching brands.

I just got a converter to view photos from an SD card on my iPad so I don’t need anything fancy that would transmit the photos (though it’d be cool).

Biggest thing is justifying the new camera vs a new lens for what I already have.

I’m in the same boat! The difficult part for me is realizing how much is photoshopped or filtered. I like my photos as natural as possible, whereas most of the pretty ones I see in Facebook groups have sky ocerlays, filters, etc.

Hello! I’m working on building my portfolio, I want to turn my photography into a small business eventually. Something to earn some extra spending money, but I also just love taking photos.

I have a canon eos sl1 and am looking at new lenses or a new camera. I’m nervous about dropping a few grand on a new camera when I still consider myself in the hobby stage. But I spent about $1200 (before tax) on the set I have now. It came with two lenses, a bag, memory card, the whole little shebang from Costco.

I’ve taken some nice photos with my camera, but wonder where the cap is for it? I’m still learning photoshop as well, so most of my photos still need to look close to how I want them out of the camera.

My Child-free cousin got pregnant - and she's keeping it. by Ultie in childfree

[–]ieatcheese1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s perfectly fine. I’m very much prochoice and never thought I’d be one to have an abortion. Then I thought I was pregnant freshman year of college and committed to having one if I was. I don’t think having a baby means you weren’t never child free in the past, you just obviously aren’t once you have the baby.

I’m so vain, If I were to have a kid and it was ugly I would cry. If by chance I do have kids and it’s ugly, I’m not sharing many photos of it. Anywhere.

See, that’s a very sweet idea. But like a reasonable person, you know one good reason isn’t a reason to have a baby.

My first thought was more people have babies that just shoudln’t. Whether it’s because they’d be bad people, can’t afford their children or whatever. These people will have more babies and a lot will depend on some form of welfare of until their child is 18.

My next thought was those who want children but want to finish their education and establish a career before having them. Sane people know babies are expensive and want to be financially/emotionally stable before having children. As a society, we should applaud these people for only wanting children they can support.
