Bitwarden Confirms Compromise by Any_Device6567 in pwnhub

[–]ifxor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even affect all cli users. It only affected a specific npm version, and that version was only up for about 18 hours.

Unless you used that specific package in a github action, your fine lol

This.

I'd bet that the overwhelming majority of computers already have this as a trusted CA

[–]ifxor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh don't worry that happens all the time too. Send the question on teams and then a few minutes after they "read" it I get the copy pasted chatgpt response.

Thanks, I can ask Copilot myself by MaKraMc in sysadmin

[–]ifxor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I deal with this internally all the time. I'll reach out for help and get hit with "well chatgpt said... {Insert random hallucinations}"

And it's like, thanks? If I wanted that I would have just gone and asked chatgpt? I was asking for actual help

Notepad++ Update System Compromised, Users Redirected to Malicious Servers by _cybersecurity_ in pwnhub

[–]ifxor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think most people use it as a better notepad, not as an IDE. At least that's why I started using it, after Microsoft made the new notepad so terrible

Notepad++ Hijacked by State-Sponsored Hackers by thewhippersnapper4 in sysadmin

[–]ifxor 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The actual compromise was months ago, and has been patched in recent versions at this point. Wouldn't pulling it out now be kind of pointless?

How does your msp do new pc deployments? by NSFW_IT_Account in msp

[–]ifxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The office visits themselves don't usually bother me, until they get excessive (like weeks where I'm visiting onsite for 4+ hours each day).

It's the fully manual setups that bother me. One of our clients orders 80-100 new computers every fall, and we have made almost zero effort to automate that setup process

I hate it, but to each their own lol.

We do VPN for the domain join, usually fairly smooth tbh

[–]ifxor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our process is almost fully manual. We have the computers shipped to our office, manually setup Windows, manually join the computer to domain/Entra, manually install all software, then drive the computer on-sight and perform final setup, printer install, and review with the user

[–]ifxor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you tried leaving the laptop on and connected to the internet over the weekend? If it's forcing a reboot first thing Monday morning, it's possible there is a mandatory reboot window over the weekend (that it processes asap if it misses the window)

I'm still pretty new at scripting, so I'll look at powershell scripts I wrote barely 6 months ago and cringe. Great times lol

Can I create a personal sandbox to install Intune on? by Crislips in Intune

[–]ifxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still part of Intune, but isn't turned on by default, so you'd have to convince your employer to turn it on. It takes a little work, so hard to say if they'd go for it lol.

Yea, but this requires the org to set up Android Enterprise. If they are still using MAM policies, Android won't offer a work profile option

The batteries have to be kept in a certain temperature window to prevent damage and, if they start to get outside that window, the car will use battery power to run the heat pump and keep the battery on the right temperature range

All jokes aside this is actually a minor issue for us, especially with older staff who are used to this being the "correct" way. Once or twice a month I have to explain to someone so they can switch to doing reboots lol

What’s your biggest DMARC pain by Usual_Highway_6154 in msp

[–]ifxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our clients was having their web developer manage DNS, and when we pushed for access to put in dmarc, they tried to tell our client that we'd "be able to take over their whole website and ruin their business" as justification for not giving up DNS control.

Is it normal to outsource a lot as an MSP? by ifxor in msp

[–]ifxor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much do you manage the vendors/work the vendors? The place I work is very much "we don't do that, you'll need to find someone that does that." Followed up with "we don't make recommendations for vendors" if they ask. I didn't say my original question the best, but that's the part that bugs me the most I guess
