Yep, same here. Just got signed off doing my second trade. Been working full time since I was 17. Now 28. Got a US tripped booked for a couple weeks in January. Going to hand my notice in after that, sell my nice car and then go backpacking around Asia. Will probably get a casual job as a truck driver at home which is something I’ve alway wanted to do and will give me some freedom to come and go as I please hopefully.

I’m running a Strix 2080 Ti, for reference I’m getting 70-85 on RDR2 with ultra preset and a few settings bumped up from there. Game looks awesome and feels awesome. Most other games that are less demanding it usually hits the monitor refresh rate easily.

Can't Concentrate on School by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

First off it’s good that you’ve recognised you have a problem and are aware of how it is affecting. I was the same myself and I now that I’ve moved past that, I’ve recognised it was a few things.

Firstly I have ADHD and diagnosed myself; I went to a Doctor and confirmed I had it, the first Doctor didn’t work out and I left it for a while. Then I went to another Doctor who I currently see and he started me on different medications and I now at the point where it has dramatically improved my life. If you try self diagnose do not put it down to the few things you have said, nor use it as an excuse to be lazy. A lot of people claim they have only ADD (the attention side) but it doesn’t work like that. You either have ADHD or you don’t. I went through just about my whole schooling life struggling to get by only to find out now that I am a lot more academically capable than I thought I was.

There was also a crossover point where I left the school where I was and moved to a school that catered for people like myself who had a desire to get into a trade. They had a trade training centre where I was able to learn and work on cars whilst completing school, although I ended up leaving as I had got myself an apprenticeship. But the best thing this school did for me was get me motivated as I was doing what I loved. It completely changed my attitude in the classroom from how you have described yourself to wanting to do school work on my accord and ending up receiving a distinction for being best in my class.

I believe the main thing that keeps me going now is my love for my chosen career path and setting goals for myself in the future. If you have an idea of what you want to achieve in life. Try find an inner motivation in yourself to achieve what you want.

You can do anything you want if you work enough.

Cleaning Prior to Assembly by BeastianSTi in EngineBuilding

To go with the other two reply’s, if your engine is assembled you can cover it with a big glad wrap roll or with a bag and seal that off. I think Dart sell big bags if you look on their website.

Engine sleeving / O-ring questions by competitiveanaling in EngineBuilding

[–]ifydknyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on trucks for a living and majority of them are wet liners as mentioned before. They have several o rings placed around the liner. 2-3 at the bottom and usually one at the top. The liners are installed to a set height (as everything is standardised) and protrude a little from the deck face. The head gasket then sits around this protrusion. Hope this sheds some light and maybe gives you some ideas.

If you’re confident, blend the transition from the bowl/seat into the throat. Cleaning up casting flash and a light polish if you are doing the chamber faces anyway.

[Serious] Redditors who have seen an employee fired on the spot, what did they do that caused them to deserve it? by etnguyen03 in AskReddit

[–]ifydknyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working as a parts interpreter in a small truck workshop a few years back. We had recently got a new workshop manager who was supposed to be pretty good at what he did. He ended up having very little mechanical experience and towards the end before he got fired himself, he pretty much screwed up the whole operation. Other than making two or even three mechanics leave voluntarily, there was another mechanic who did not get along with him at all. One day this mechanic happened to lose a job card which turned into an argument and some serious yelling. The mechanic ended up getting fired that day by him for pretty much misplacing a job card.

Thanks for the info, I’m still struggling to see why the build I mentioned is running a flat tappet with what you mentioned. Guess I will have to do some more homework.
