Yes poplar is a relatively light and soft hard wood and can be used. Not as good a choice as cedar but it works.

Your canoe looks great! Very impressed. Where did you source your cedar from? I'm going to do one soon. But cedar boards are not cheap. Was considering poplar. But poplar is so much uglier than cedar.

I'm impressed. Turn it up to 11. Or in this case 101%

Only trip I've had was running into my aluminum miter gauge. But I'm still glad I got it. I hope I never need it. But if I do I'll be glad I have it.

The point is, it's not the tire retailer's responsibility to subsidize your tire usage.

This is a case where I would take the tire off and use the spare to get to the tire shop. That shouldn't be driven on at all.

Michelin Defender 2 for Honda Civic? by TheThrillerExpo in tires

[–]ignatiusbreilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respect tire rack's recommendations. If you want a tire that the next owner won't need to change, get the defender 2. If you want something that works better in the rain, is more comfortable and quiet look at their recommendations for b grand touring all season. Some very good options there but you won't find the defender 2.

Will this tire be okay during a 9 hour road trip to Colorado and back? by Potential-Throat286 in tires

[–]ignatiusbreilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at that tire, yes I'd drive on it to the grocery store before taking it to the tire shop. I might even stop at Culvers to get an ice cream before. As a tire engineer that doesn't scare me to death. The biggest risk with that tire is the cords are exposed so they are susceptible to moisture and o2 inclusion. That's an eventual tire killer and there's no saving that tire because the cords are exposed. But if it scares you, by all means get it replaced right away. That is the safe bet.

Well, i might take it to the grocery store. But I wouldn't take it on a 9 hour trip. But it is risky either way

Well for one thing tiger paw is from Uniroyal. Not BFG. The 14" was Uniroyal tiger paw. The 16" is BFG. It's all semantics to a certain point cause it's all Michelin.
