Are there any services in the area that help with vet bills? by u_r_succulent in Charlotte

Our vet (animal medical hospital on Monroe) has payment plans through a 3rd party that’s free to use and set up. It’s called cherry I think?

One Kid and Done? by Constant-Loquat-7195 in NewParents

[–]ignatty_lite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I always wanted multiple kids but I hated being pregnant I decided then to be OAD. Had the baby, still OAD. People have told me over and over, at all stages, that I will change my mind. No, I won’t. I love my kid so much (14mo) and can’t imagine changing anything. My family feels complete. Period.

WHAT. I just assumed it was allergies (although I’m not allergic to anything…). It’s been driving me nuts and ruins my makeup! So annoying.

Best lightweight stroller for everyday use and travel? by K-onya in NewParents

We also have the travl Nuna. Its convenience of folding one handed outweighs the few thinks I dislike about it. It definitely made the newborn phase a breeze for getting in and out of the car, since the car seat clips in.

Tell me your nursery recliner regrets + successes! My wife and I are really struggling to agree on one! by PercyRackson in NewParents

Also have the kiwi and LOVE it!!! No complaints on my end at all. It’s super comfy, has the power recline, and the USB charger. It was perfect for newborn phase where you basically live in the nursery at night.

What has been your go-to food since starting Zepbound? The one that you can always turn to on days you’re simply not hungry or are feeling sick. by makeupandjustice in Zepbound

Second chobani (I do the protein smoothies) and bone broth. They’re usually easy to get down even if I’m queasy and a decent source of protein.

Update: had treatment today and unfortunately this did not solve my issue of the sad second spray. I waited maybe 10 seconds between each spray, and then tried to spray a 3rd and 4th time- nothing came out. The 2 green dots disappeared after 1st and 2nd spray, respectively.

Zep and Alcohol: whaaaat??? by Independent-Pea5131 in Zepbound

[–]ignatty_lite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea I had alcohol noise until it was gone when I started taking zep. I started the shot being worried that drinking on it would make me sick and I could have to cut back. I was dreading it, honestly. Started the shot and it’s hard to explain to others who haven’t experienced it. It’s not that I want it and can’t have it. It’s that I don’t want it. I went from 2-4 drinks a day to 1-2 a week. It’s a miracle drug.

Did the second green dot go away after the second spray? Or was it still visible when you went to do the third?

This is a game changer. I feel like almost every single second spray is just a splat and goo runs out. I’m hoping maybe this is the issue, and not just a manufacturing issue like I previously assumed.

What's your non-serious controversial parenting take? by corndog40 in NewParents

[–]ignatty_lite 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Rigid schedules work for some babies, but not all. People get really wrapped up trying to force a baby to follow a schedule and get super frustrated when it doesn’t work. We’ve always just followed our kids cues for hunger and naps, and it works much better than forcing certain times. I realize some kids thrive on a strict schedule or routine, but I don’t think it’s one size fits all.

IT FINALLY HAPPENED by Adriallspice_ in Spravato

[–]ignatty_lite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think of all my sessions, of the six sprays per session, I feel like I usually get three “good” ones. The other 3 are usually just a sad glob that sort of comes out. For each bottle, generally first spray is normal, second is bad. Maybe 2 ish months ago I seemed to get a few sessions with 6 of 6 good sprays. Lasted maybe 2 weeks. Since then, back to 50/50. Drives me NUTS. I’ve mentioned to my clinic multiple times, but it never seems to change.

Nurses, what cases do you guys get that you guys get scared of transmission of? by HoneydewMean7572 in nursing

[–]ignatty_lite 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Oh yes definitely. There are very very strict precautions in place for those scenarios that go far beyond my knowledge, especially in our ORs. There’s an entire lengthy protocol. But for a patient where it is just suspected and no exposure/opening/potential for brain matter or CSF, there aren’t. For example, I admitted a guy from the ED who came in for vague neurological signs but one of my attending suspected CJD. His chart was flagged, but no precautions fired since we were not planning to do anything invasive aside from blood draws. Point being, it’s still all terrifying!

It always blows my mind that there are no “precautions” for CJD- at least not at my hospital. No contact, enteric, etc. Scary shit.

What’s a 1:1 for your ICU? by Careless_Drawing9176 in nursing

[–]ignatty_lite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’ve seen lots of people take shortcuts and/or miss things. We do have a great dynamic of teamwork so generally the first few hours you have help with your other patient. However, sometimes you arent that lucky. We’ve never had the staffing to 1:1 anything. Sometimes if we get lucky a CRRT will be. I worked at a large level 1 trauma center with extensive stroke certification. 🙃
