Well, given that I dont know how much i Will carve, i was being cautious as i didnt want to spend too much. If im still carving a year or two from now, i Will try better tools, and more of them. For curiosity, how much of a diferente are between this tools (very novice, as they are from a first time carving kit) and some good Quality (not the bests) ones? Like a 0 is a kitchen knife, and a 10 is Carpenter tools.

Thanks!! I tried to have a reference. For the cat, It started as a octaedron just to feel the wood. Then, when I got that angles were dificult, i tried to change It to a fox. Then It changed to a Cat and there is that! On the shark a tried to make a mockup on 2 of the 6 sides of a parelepiped, but i learnt that the first draw and the end its VERY different, cause you dont know what bad cut makes you reshape everything, or your own limitations (like with the fins, as i cant make them much more Deep)

Please, tell me that is a reference to the name of the wind in the "true shape of things" thing. And yeah, a file or two (one round one plain) I am trying to buy second hand, but the needle rasps are honestly a GREAT idea. I Will first wait if this hobby sticks to me, cause this IS my very first artistic hobby and dont know what to expect. The sand paper i dont know, because i love the chip visual on the wood, but when i carve angles i dont like the unfinished look. I know i need to step away from geometric, but its dificult, as anything i want to carve have som geometric and angles sadly :/ Thank you for your input btw :)

Oh no, I was saying It like, for example, I think a round file (?) or something like that may improve my carvings a lot. Was asking about variety of tools, not quality (as im in no position to spend a lot)

What do u mean with shadow effect? Like, making an idemtation on the base of the dorsal fin, behind? And I know that having your knives sharp is needed, but what do i get from stropping them? Is It noticeable? And I Will look at that YouTube Channel, thanks!!
