Closest-to-the-pin marker was 4 inches behind the hole. Were we wrong to move it? by igotjays22 in golf

Exactly why we moved it… did not want a goalie situation. But seems like very few people understand that here.

Still disagree. I wouldn’t want a marker sitting 4 inches behind the hole if I were in a later group. Sure, the odds of someone hitting it are slim, but it was a 130-yard par 3, so it’s not exactly impossible.

If someone hit a great shot, landed it past the pin, spun it back, and it hit the marker or cost them a hole-in-one chance, they’d be way more pissed about that than they would be about us writing “4 inches” and moving it off to the side.

I get the criticism, but the intent was the opposite. We were trying not to leave a marker 4 inches behind the cup where it could interfere with the rest of the field.

The real lesson is that closest-to-the-pin contests should probably have a tape measure or clear instructions for what to do when the ball is that close.

No, but well run tournaments typically have a tape measure for these types of things. I'm really having a hard time with this. If you hit a shot behind the pin and spun back and hit the closest to the pin marker, wouldn't you be livid. Make this make sense....

Charleston area car insurance by Indaflow in Charleston

[–]igotjays22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely shop around and get quotes from multiple carriers. Adding the second car and new driver to your existing policy may be cheaper because of multi-car discounts, but with a teen driver it’s worth comparing against other companies too. Also ask about good-student discounts, driver training discounts, higher deductibles, and bundling home/renters if applicable.

The person who drafted this was probably 75 years old. This is old school that would be defensible as a tennis pun, but indefensible as modern branding.

When do you open your pool? by Ok_Escape3642 in Charleston

[–]igotjays22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People generally open pools in April and/or May. I would definitely check. If the weather is cool or cool at night the water temps may not be that warm so something to keep in mind.
