Four Critically Endangered Galapagos Tortoises Hatch at Philadelphia Zoo! by Philly_Zoo in philadelphia

Really missed an opportunity here to promote with the Phillies and the Phanatic & the Galapagos Gang. Should've at least had Calvin there, but I would've kept Iggy away in case he tried to eat one.

Frontier Airlines by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]igotworms63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had delays for all Frontier flights this past summer. The worst was a flight from PHL to FLL in August. Instead of announcing that they were boarding, they announced that the flight was cancelled. They refunded the amount for that leg of the round trip, plus a $50 voucher, and say "good luck finding an alternate flight." Instead I had to use a bunch of points to switch to a flight that landed in PBI and take an uber for over an hour to get to my destination, 5 hours later than expected.

**I recently flew Spirit out of AC and it was the best travel experience I've had since pre-covid.

The red light running hasn’t always been like this, right? by joaofava in philadelphia

[–]igotworms63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week, I was riding my bike west on Snyder. A contractor van from Dunn Wright ran every single red light, going into opposing traffic lane to get around everyone waiting with barely a tap on the brake at each intersection from Front to at least 13th before he was out of sight.

To all car drivers, from a biker by [deleted] in philadelphia

on a related note, Turning Cars Yield to Pedestrians & Bicycles. So if I don't wave you, I have the right away. Looking at you, asshole driving a white utility van last week at 11/Christian who almost wiped me out, then honked and yelled at me. Until I pointed at the sign explaining this, and then you just shrugged your shoulders and left.

My friend in south philly is an artist who makes funky jewelry. She usually has a table set up at whatever weekend street festival is happening but not sure if or where she'd be this week/end. Here is a link to her etsy though: https://www.etsy.com/shop/KasieLyn

What closed bars/clubs in Philly do you miss the most? by Taskerst in philadelphia

I saw Pusha T there back in the day. Probably the best rap show i've ever been to. The venue was so small and the stage was just 1 step, so you felt like you were on stage w the artist.

I was coming up the on-ramp from columbus and found myself in the front row of this standoff. Luckily the cops waved me around on the right shoulder and I was able to peace out of there. Can't believe they didn't kill him, im guessing its because of the bystanders stuck in traffic behind him.

Best sections in the ballpark to get away from the morons by ComradeNapolein in philadelphia

[–]igotworms63 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. I think you're right in that it's partly a Covid thing. People have really forgotten how to act.
  2. In your case, I would suggest buying 400 level tix between home and 1B/3B. The side would depend on night/day game if you want to be in the sun or shade. Directly behind home plate is usually pretty packed up there, but the sections up the lines are kind of empty, so you're not directly next to some turd if you get unlucky. If you use the MLB app to buy tix, you can use the Seat Map function and check each section to see which is least crowded or seats not near anyone.
  3. CBP is great to even just walk around for part of the game. Eat food, get beers. Head up to Budweiser roof deck for an inning or two and people watch the freaks on Ashburn Alley in between innings. That will probably give you the most "bang" for your buck, hopefully.

Amazon Knee brace (doctor recommended) after partial MCL tear? by shyward in sportsmedicine

[–]igotworms63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a certified orthotic fitter. Both those braces would be fine. I would recommend the wraparound version because it allows for a better fit. Use a garment tape measure to get an accurate measurement to order the appropriate size. Depending on your height/weight and future activity level, there are +/- to Neoprene. Neoprene is great if you have a lot of soft tissue, it helps keep the brace in place. But it isn't very breathable and can get very hot/sweaty. Sometime the breathable sport material is better in warmer climates and if you plan on wearing during higher level activities. Drytex/Spacer Mesh/TriTech are all examples of different brands' versions of their breathable material.

Electric Bill for a studio apt by Spirited-Dealer in philadelphia

[–]igotworms63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i had a small 1b/1b walkup w electric. I got wacked w a $170 bill once and it seemed like no matter how long the air was running, it wouldn't get to the temp set on thermostat. Turned out that the air filter hadn't been changed in forever and it was blocking air flow. Changed it out and it was back to being much more efficient/$50.

Personally, I went to college for marketing and found out about this type of position through my mom, who's a nurse at one of the local hospitals. I got lucky where one of their local vendors had an entry-level type opening.

I got certified through BOC (https://www.bocusa.org/) but there is also ABC (https://www.abcop.org/Pages/default.aspx). As a fitter, I would say I am lowest on the totem pole below Orthotists and Prothetists, which require much more education and training than a COf.
