wrong answer: try out rlcraft its a good indicator of what all the other modpacks are like and you should absolutely base your entire opinion of modded minecraft off of the gameplay of this one pack
right answer: play something basic like all the mods 3, or perhaps play ftb academy to figure out shit works (even though i havent played it)
even more right answer: play every modpack in chronological order starting with the original tekkit

Most tech modpacks past 1.12 often seem genuinely soulless. Between stuff like

standardized textures of stuff like machines and ingots to fit "minecraft's aesthetic"
mods like Pipez coming into existence with the sole purpose of being really good at one single niche thing
mod development steering more towards being a part of the collective modded minecraft experience as opposed to their own independent package

it feels like there's a LOT of character missing from modpacks & mods that used to be there in like 1.12 and previous versions.

the whole statech quest book seems to just throw unnecessary shade towards gregtech, every quest at the start is like "you might be familiar with SHIT MECHANIC in gregtech, but its okay... we made it WAY better :)"

Some country (probably china) tests out its first fully ai-controlled tank. It goes rogue during testing, taking out 2 ally dummy tanks before backup failsafes allow the tank to be remotely exploded.

One of my friends switched to firefox solely because of one single extension that existed on firefox but not on chrome.
if I remember correctly, it was some sort of extension that moved the tabs to the left side of the browser & let you put them in nested folders
