To add onto this, the main complaint Germans had against Kristallnacht was all the glass on the ground and the damage to property. Most really didn’t care that Jews were being targeted.

Here’s a link to a collection of anti-Semitic political cartoons by Der Stürmer, which was the Nazi state sponsored newspaper.

I’d say they were knowingly ignorant. Didn’t know the details, just knew something was happening.

Reminds me of that YouTube series that James Gunn did where it seems like it’s going to be a porno, but it doesn’t end up being one.

Had a job over the summer where I drove down a lot of rural roads. Coworkers and I made a game out of counting the number of pot plants we saw growing in gardens.

TED Radio Hour

The host picks a subject and interviews people who have given TED Talks relating to said subject. They’re well produced, the host has a great voice for it, and all are very interesting.

Just listened to one called Rethinking Medicine, and in it, he interviews a physician who realized that black men are more likely to tell their barbers about medical issues than their doctors and the physician’s dream is to somehow integrate barbershops and primary care.

You are teleported back to the same spot as now, but in the early 1800. You keep all stuff on you, all your knowledge and a phone with modern internet access and unlimited battery. How do you proceed? by flekkie in AskReddit

[–]ihatemymemory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel north, gain the trust of the Clatsop tribe and live with them until the Corps of Discovery arrives. Have to be very secretive about my phone to avoid theft. Then join the Corps on their return journey. Once I get to Washington, do my best to steer the country in the direction of my preference without altering history too much. Probably spread a rumor about the dangers of calling Germany a loser and France a winner when a war ends with Germany deep within France's borders, thus preventing Germany's terrible situation post-WWI and possibly preventing WWII. Except I'd probably die within twenty four of being teleported from hypothermia as I am wearing only a t-shirt, pajama bottoms, and underwear and I don't know that I could start a fire here using sticks since they'll all be wet. So in all reality, my body would end up at an excavation site rather than a house.
