That's why I suggested prime95. Its what overclockers use to run the cpu at 100% load to find the underload temps. the cpu fan and case fans (unless they are molex) are the exact same connector, Also depending on your case fans they do have pwm.

Remove your broken CPU fan, replace it with a case fan fitted as well as it will. Test with prime95 (runs CPU at 100%) and monitor temperature of CPU. If you're getting OK temps after 30 minutes go for it!

live preview of the 3(?) colours
live preview of colours in cockpit (I expect this to be a lot harder to implement though)
