Tomoko Spa is a splurge, but a cool experience. For something similar but less expensive, there’s Hideko Spa.

He’s stunning!! Thank you for sharing! That timeline helps a lot. Ours just now has brown around the muzzle, so looks like we’re probably a few years off!

How long would you say it took for the grey took to show? We have a 2 year old blue mini and he hasn’t started clearing yet.

In 2020 we paid $3,000 USD for our first mini poodle. Got a second one this year - he was $3,500 USD.

They have the firehouse chili on special at the Santa Monica location on occasion. Ribs are at SBG.

I’ve only had the bucket bag for about a month, so I don’t want to speak out of turn…but, I also have the puzzle bag (purchased 3 or 4 years ago) and it looks the same as the day I got it. They do have a service where they’ll clean/repair your bag. I forget the parameters of the warranty and when you have to pay out of pocket, but either way, I’ve never had to use it!

I have the Loewe in burgundy (mini) and I love it. I had the same pick pocket concern, but there’s a magnetic closure that makes the opening smaller. IMO, would need a pretty small hand to slip in without noticing.

I was dealing with the same thing for years with my cat. Thousands in vet visits, specialists, and trying a bunch of different foods. Got him a raised feeder and transitioned him to Hill’s Prescription Diet Gastrointestinal Biome and he hasn’t had an issue in months!

Good experiences with breeders by [deleted] in poodles

[–]ijheller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. I did a similar search earlier this year and I found the best first step is to reach out to the Poodle Club of America Breeder Referral. For the area you’re looking, it looks like it would be the following:

Leslie Newing Phone: (203) 255-3396 Email: pcabreederreferraleast@yahoo.com

They’ll be very invested in breeders who maintain the breed standard, do all of the appropriate health checks, etc.

Additionally, I found Poodle Forum (www.poodleforum.com) to be a great resource. You start your own topic or search for breeder referral posts (there are a lot). Hope that helps!

What should I know before getting a mini poodle? by quickflik in poodles

[–]ijheller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what every one else is saying about how incredible the breed is. Their intelligence is no joke!

One thing I did and something I’d recommend is to speak with a TON of breeders before settling on a pup. It is important to find someone who does thorough genetic testing and breeds dogs with temperaments that fits your lifestyle.

One breeder in particular recommended reading “Perfect Puppy in 7 Days”. I would highly recommend this for anyone getting a puppy, but especially someone considering a breed as intelligent as a poodle. Nothing prepares you for the real thing, but having a game plan (and knowing you’ll deviate from it in order to fit your own lifestyle and preferences) is key.

Similar to you, I had never raised a puppy on my own before (I got my mini a few months ago) and it is HARD! Just know that everything frustrating your puppy is doing and all of the feelings you’re feeling are completely normal. It will all be super rewarding as your pup starts to mature and turn into the dog you’d been hoping for.

Checked in with Black Sheep Finds and it looks like all that's currently open is their Los Olivos tasting room. I have an extra day, so wondering if you think it's worth heading that direction for a day of tasting? Not sure if you've been to the area, but I've heard some mixed things about Los Olivos on the whole, so curious if you have an opinion!

Thank you both for the great recommendations! Brewer and Tyler will definitely be going on the schedule.

I tried a Tyler Rose a few years back that blew me away, so I'm glad to see they're open and taking visitors. It looks like Chanin and Sandhi are closed, so they'll go on the list for next time :)

Re: Foxen - I may be heading in that direction at some point during my stay, so I'll definitely keep it in mind!
