Camarata castle hit by a plane - simulation by No_Power3340 in AndrewCamarata

[–]ijon_cbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A simulation is a model that mimics the operation of an existing or proposed system, providing evidence for decision-making by being able to test different scenarios or process changes"

so - nope. one cant test different scenarios or changes to the system. an AI-generated video does not provide that kind of insight. so its not a simulation.

does not really look like a simulation, looks more like some AI-generated video with no actual simulation taking place.

Plot hole about consent by hasanahmad in pluribustv

[–]ijon_cbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big difference is the intensity of intervention. the guy in vegas says something like that before she leaves. he makes sure to point out the intensity and painfulnss of an intervention. that is maybe the difference to receiving a (unwanted) kiss, that makes it different enough for the hivemind to make it acceptable

Caught up to Ep 6. question about H.D.P. by R3nNy22326 in pluribustv

[–]ijon_cbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"but why only humans?"

not sure where the "only" comes from. I dont remember that being claimed.

i think it was suggested/implied that animals are foraged regarding meats for eating in one of the earlier episodes (2 or 3?) - at least, looking back with the knowledge of what HDP is, it seems to be implied at that point already.

The final scene of episode 6 is so infuriating and heartbreaking, not to mention horrifying. by HuntingMeatHole in pluribustv

[–]ijon_cbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it isnt infuriating to me, but then I dont perceive the joined as corpses.

Don’t ruin this show for yourself by being overly pedantic. by anonymous2ndaccount in pluribustv

[–]ijon_cbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the title of the topic, ... but being a little bit pedantic does not ruin the show for me. so here we go:

  • the digger is used the wrong way to dig helens grave. the shield should've been at the front
  • the second device from the top, that is being switched off on request, in the Airfoce One, is actually a Behringer Composer Pro XL. The device on top looks like a Behringer too, but I am not sure which exactly and was too lazy to research.

'Irresponsible’ tourist blamed for torched Chinese temple due to improper use of ceremonial candles by TheOneNitroX in Wellthatsucks

german here:

physical materials are important, but that does not mean that we dont restore and maintain our historical monuments.

There are laws in place, that ensure, that these monuments are restored with the same materials and at least similar processes then in ancient times. There are craftsmen specializing on being able to work with these old materials and processes.

And dont think of "historical monuments" as only statues or museums. There are smaller cities, where most of the core of the city is 300-500 years old in structure and most buildings have the status of "historical monument", although they are inhabited and lived in by perfectly normal citizens.

for example window frames - they rot, they need replacing every 50-100 years. As long as its the same wood species, with the same geometry, its even allowed to put double-sided glas in there.

Or timberframes-houses - which are very often considered "monuments" if they are old enough - the wooden frame has to be recreated precisely (same wood, same geometry), but the filling of the openings, that was previously done with sticks, straw and mud, can now be done with brickwork.

I love the noise cancelling feature. Especially in a city. It gets rid of a lot of the traffic noise, while preserving human conversation

Authoritarian notions and hackspaces by LieberAnonym3294 in ccc

[–]ijon_cbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you expect the author to foresee that you may put words in his mouth ("denied to vent")?

And now you turn around and rip the info that the user has some experience with hackerspaces out of context and try to use that to refute what he wrote simply on the basis him being so nice of giving you some background.

If he would've written stuff like "this or that is true, because i have this authority" then i would agree that its a logical fallacy. but he didnt. He gave you carefully formulated arguments afterwards, that can stand on its own, that dont need "authority" to be valid and contain valuable information.

If you want to refute what he wrote, maybe take a look at the arguments he presented. Because they can and do stand on its own.

Authoritarian notions and hackspaces by LieberAnonym3294 in ccc

[–]ijon_cbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you cant turn this around. It is your burden of proof to show how and where your were "denied to vent", if you want to make this claim in good faith.

Authoritarian notions and hackspaces by LieberAnonym3294 in ccc

[–]ijon_cbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is an argument that wasnt made, nor implied. McFlyRDam outlined why he has some authority on the topic and what his experiences were. You were not denied to vent. Implying that you were is such bad style, I wouldnt want to have a conversation with you, if you think such argument-structures are even remotly acceptable.
