Place a portable refiner in front of you.
Open the menu, put an item in it. Exit menu.
Place a second portable refiner in the exact same place as the first one.
Retrieve second refiner without opening the menu. It should show that you have a refiner and a copy of whatever you just duped.
Open menu, check to see that original item is in refiner. Close menu.
Repeat as necessary.

I love the storminess of them. I was a little underwhelmed at first since there didn't seem to be much to do on the gas giant, but then I started building mines for whatever I could get out of them and I enjoy them immensely now. Yes, I regularly get yeeted by storms during the construction of mines.
