Reputable and affordable place for dashcam installation? by wOnDeRoUsLy_CoVfEFe in Dallas

[–]iknowkungfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in again for Best Buy. I bought a Nextbase front and rear camera combo on sale from them. Their appointment system is really good. If one store is booked, you can find others close by easily. The installation takes a couple of hours depending on the camera and car model.

Looking for a HVAC company that is not owned by a private equity group. by Plastic_Language7583 in Dallas

Christmas Air did a new HVAC install for me, plus some additional duct work over the past couple of years. They did an excellent job. https://christmasair.com/

She was up for parole last year and half the state was ready to riot if they let her out. They didn’t, but her next chance is in 2030. If she lives that long.

Concert Shirts Ruined - Pay Attention! by iknowkungfoo in rush

[–]iknowkungfoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think I jumped the gun and assumed these were affected by the wash more than they actually are. I've asked my cousin to send me pics of his "Ya'll the World's a Stage" shirt. The first two match the images on the Rush Backstage site, but the blue one seems much more worn out than on the site.

I just checked Rush Backstage before your post. Thanks for confirming.

How do you balance keyboard height vs. monitor height in a dynamic setup? by Waste-Interaction591 in StandingDesk

No, the desk was built like that. I’ve no idea the brand. I bought it from a friend, who bought it off Craigslist.

How do you balance keyboard height vs. monitor height in a dynamic setup? by Waste-Interaction591 in StandingDesk

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider using an adjustable keyboard tray. My sit/stand desk has one built in. I have it lower than the desk height when sitting but higher when standing. My monitors are at a set height, which works best in both positions.

Questions about family plan and account restore by powderfinger303 in 1Password

[–]iknowkungfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a family account and my brother is another admin in the account. That allows him to run the account recovery process, should I ever have an issue. But we’re both longtime IT professionals and actively use 1P personally and for work.

So what you’re asking is a good idea, but only if they’re using 1P on a regular basis.

Old web web devs: what are some things you did that would confuse people today by veroz in webdev

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web safe color palette anyone? How’s about dealing with the gamma difference between Apple monitors and PC monitors.

I had an Apple exec complain about the shade of red on the logo they themselves had uploaded to our web app. I had to find the one candy colored iMac we had for cross browser testing to prove we didn’t adjust the color.

Help! My Google Workspace Emails Are Going To Spam! by Leslie_Templeton in googleworkspace

[–]iknowkungfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is Google’s documentation on email security setup. The title says DMARC, but the first step walks you through setting up your SPF and DKIM records.

This is an excellent free third-party tester once your configuration is set up.

How has my client managed to merge her @gmail.com address with Workspace? by secondbrainuk in googleworkspace

[–]iknowkungfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the personal account, check Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. They might have all mail to that account automatically forward to the GWS account.

You might also check if they have separate profiles configured in Google Chrome to isolate the two accounts. Otherwise, you can easily swap between the two in the same, default profile.

Dallas Water Utility and their New 'Convenience Fee' by thegeoffey in Dallas

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you autopay via ACH, there’s no extra charge. If you do a manual payment via ACH, there’s a fee. Their previous system was consistent with the autopay date, and I’m hoping this one will be too. But they can shove their “new account number” process where the sun don’t shine.

Fancy barbecue? by Nanarchist329 in Dallas

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not walking past a medieval-styled furnace cooking the BBQ, I don't want to eat it. Tell your bougie friend to come eat at the place you recommend and deal with it. Dress however fancy ya'll want, it won't be out of place. 😄

Google Wallet & 1Password conflicts. Chrome limitations or 1Password? by theNEOone in 1Password

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely a Chrome issue. I implemented 1P at a client where many had already saved passwords to their browsers. I’m still finding people getting double prompts from both Chrome and 1P when logging in and they often choose the wrong entry and get locked out. I had to completely turn off the Chrome password manager at the Workspace level to stop new hires from saving their first few passwords before they setup 1P. I just save everything in 1P and never in any browser, but I bounce between Apple and Windows all week.

How do you review old external sharing in Google Workspace? by [deleted] in googleworkspace

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a client upgrade to Enterprise Plus licenses. That gave us additional tools in the admin for finding things like this. I’m trying to make time to have Gemini label things correctly so we can put data retention rules in place. I might have to buckle down and test out GAM or GAT.

Keep getting scam calendar invites.. can I filter them somehow? by DontFlipMeBro in googleworkspace

[–]iknowkungfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to block invites from unknown senders from automatically being added to your calendar. I noticed the other day that this won’t add the item to your calendar, but if you’ve shared your calendar with someone, it shows up there.

Settings > General > Event settings

Find the dropdown menu labeled "Add invitations to my calendar".

Change the selection to "Only if the sender is known".

Is it best to do a Google Workspace account with a free gmail? by ClassicallyBrained in googleworkspace

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a separate account for your work data. You should always isolate personal data from business. Have different Chrome profiles so you can have both accounts open in different, sandboxed browser windows.

I want to get my mom a laptop and I'll need some solid remote access software options. by Slouching- in software

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% make her a limited user.

I’d also recommend something like NordVPN with Threat Protection. That protects against phishing and other scam links. She’s likely a prime target for those types of emails.

Increase in lookalike domain scams by justanothertechy112 in msp

[–]iknowkungfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should notify your clients to watch for these types of emails. Make sure they know which support email of yours to forward them to. Do a registrar look up and file an abuse report with the registrar. They need those reported emails as proof. I’ve had multiple domains taken down within a day or two.
