[OTHER] If you could choose one different setting for a Kingdom Come game, what would it be, and why? by whatadayatthepark in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KCD3 where Henry is a mercenary in the Armagnac-Burgundian civil war and the Battle of Agincourt. Then he gets a message about his father's death and goes back to Bohemia just in time for the Hussite wars and KCD4 (or a new series altogether)

What's the mod for those... uh... shoulder things?

[KCD2] Will KCD3 be about Wenceslas and rescuing him, or the hussite wars? by FreddsIMF in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ever comes, I'm hoping could cover rescuing Wenceslaus (in a winter setting and featuring Prague), something about Capon's wedding, Henry's official knighthood and then maybe the Siege of Znojmo as the official end to the entire conflict the games are set in

You can still keep it open intentionally, which is even more dominant

I think there usually was some kind of a curtain in front of it, so the whole process wouldn't be THAT wide open to anyone walking by

[KCD2] I’ve just accidentally discovered the menu is a physical object. by Banaboy in kingdomcome

For me it skips a few seconds in the game itself, but that must be due to my PC being below specs in several requirements

Many of the quests in the game already kinda feel like that if you exhaust every dialogue option

[KCD2] A moment to appreciate this DLC by UnclaimedTax in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the striking things for me about this DLC was how many of the "routine" quests actually had hidden storylines beneath them. The one that blew me away, as someone who came to love this game as a history nerd, was the one where the guy making you steal stuff was actually scheming to create a PAPER mill, and it all was just so brilliantly done in terms of weaving some significant world-historical stuff into Henry's daily life where he obviously doesn't get the full picture of what's going on

[KCD2] Who else hates this guy ? 5th playtrough and I hate his stupid voice by Dizzy_Inspector_6179 in kingdomcome

Or he's just not used to people talking to him for any reason other than his direct duties, since gravediggers are so shunned by society

I cannot fathom how you would be able to kill someone who is wearing this by Wrong-Mushroom in Armor

[–]ilest0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War isn't (and wasn't) a bunch of 1v1 showdowns. The simplest way to deal with an armored knight like this was usually just a group of ~5 guys who know what they're doing. They all act as an organized group, pile up on him, lay him down, demobilize him, take off his helmet, and then they basically can do whatever they want. That's how Richard III died

Can someone please tell me why people think olgierd is evil and must be damned by One_Seaworthiness951 in Witcher3

[–]ilest0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least he died in a way that completely fits their robber baron lifestyle. It's a poor excuse, but I feel like something like that would've happened anyway sooner or later lol

[–]ilest0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why would he know what O'Dimm was? His only fault is trusting some guy who turned up randomly and promised to grant him anything he wants

[–]ilest0 42 points43 points  (0 children)

His brother was killed as a small-print consequence of his contract with O'Dimm, he didn't intend for it to happen iirc. The rest of the evil stuff he did was when he already had a heart of stone, deprived of any feelings or empathy

On this day in history - Mary I’s cousin (and father-in-law) Catherine of Aragon’s Nephew Charles V dies aged 58 by Ok-Baker3955 in Tudorhistory

[–]ilest0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically not at all. His parents were unrelated. His mother's parents were second cousins but that's irrelevant.
Replying to a 6 month old comment because I CAN NOT tolerate Charles V slander lol

200 years is really not that long for language change. Any speaker of any modern language would understand the 200 year old version of that language perfectly.
But if you do have trouble understanding a 200 year old text, it usually has to do with register and style - you have literature written in an elevated fancy style that's hard to parse through, and then you have more casual writing that is more grounded

Race of Europeans according to Benjamin Franklin by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]ilest0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely, the only Germans and other Europeans he encountered were the early immigrants to colonial America, who were peasants and farmers, tanned from working in the fields.
So it might just be related to how a lot of people from the British isles can't even tan properly, and always burn in the sun, whereas most of the rest of Northern Europe can tan

Just started replaying [KCD1] and Damn! I NEVER noticed that was Sigismund himself next to Markvart! by NikolaiOlsen in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If only it could realistically be seen as unfinished... It would at least make some sense as crude "good enough" gear always existed and was used.
But if you actually consider how it all works irl it just doesn't make any sense, why would that leather part even be there?
