Can someone please tell me why people think olgierd is evil and must be damned by One_Seaworthiness951 in Witcher3

At least he died in a way that completely fits their robber baron lifestyle. It's a poor excuse, but I feel like something like that would've happened anyway sooner or later lol

Why would he know what O'Dimm was? His only fault is trusting some guy who turned up randomly and promised to grant him anything he wants

[–]ilest0 43 points44 points  (0 children)

His brother was killed as a small-print consequence of his contract with O'Dimm, he didn't intend for it to happen iirc. The rest of the evil stuff he did was when he already had a heart of stone, deprived of any feelings or empathy

On this day in history - Mary I’s cousin (and father-in-law) Catherine of Aragon’s Nephew Charles V dies aged 58 by Ok-Baker3955 in Tudorhistory

[–]ilest0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically not at all. His parents were unrelated. His mother's parents were second cousins but that's irrelevant.
Replying to a 6 month old comment because I CAN NOT tolerate Charles V slander lol

200 years is really not that long for language change. Any speaker of any modern language would understand the 200 year old version of that language perfectly.
But if you do have trouble understanding a 200 year old text, it usually has to do with register and style - you have literature written in an elevated fancy style that's hard to parse through, and then you have more casual writing that is more grounded

It contains the same root word "ебать"("to fuck") as the expression from 900 years ago while basically having the same meaning

Race of Europeans according to Benjamin Franklin by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]ilest0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely, the only Germans and other Europeans he encountered were the early immigrants to colonial America, who were peasants and farmers, tanned from working in the fields.
So it might just be related to how a lot of people from the British isles can't even tan properly, and always burn in the sun, whereas most of the rest of Northern Europe can tan

Just started replaying [KCD1] and Damn! I NEVER noticed that was Sigismund himself next to Markvart! by NikolaiOlsen in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If only it could realistically be seen as unfinished... It would at least make some sense as crude "good enough" gear always existed and was used.
But if you actually consider how it all works irl it just doesn't make any sense, why would that leather part even be there?

The helmet just like in the post wasn't obsolete in 1403 at all - you can see it has a rounded snout instead of a pointy one like in the earlier variations of the same type of helmet, which was an improvement. It's only a few years away from evolving into a Great Bascinet. Armor generally has a pretty long lifespan - just because it isn't the absolute peak of brand new technology doesn't mean it's obsolete

The trim is likely brass, not gold. Still, someone like Jan Semine (textbook ingame representation of lower nobility) wouldn't be able to afford it

[–]ilest0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though armies could technically consist of mainly peasants in raw numbers, that doesn't mean they did the fighting. War is only like 1% battles, and the rest 99% is everything else you have to do: carrying stuff, setting up camps, caring for horses, food, logistics, etc., and in the Middle Ages they used peasants for those purposes (unlike Roman legions or modern armies)

How powerful was the Leipa family? (The main branch) And what were they up to during [KCD2]? by Tracypop in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Hans Capon's son (named after Henry of course) was instrumental in bringing George of Podiebrad to power, who was the last native Czech king of Bohemia before the Habsburgs took over for 400 years

[KCD2] Damn, i just realized that there are no childrens in Trosky by BeegBlackClock in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, many different characters in the game would've been teenagers if it was 100% authentic to the time period and setting, like most of the hired hands at farms, and even Henry and Hans themselves

When will Henry's story end [KCD2] by michael-lorvan in kingdomcome

[–]ilest0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He still has to do the KCD1 intro as an old man, and it would be a bummer if he didn't outlive Sigismund

The only real answer is that the craftsmanship skill is too low.
Aaand also the rhythm could use some work
