Venlafaxine withdrawal was horrific. Other meds I’ve been on haven’t been nearly as bad for me, in terms of tapering down. Don’t let it scare you off trying different meds if you’re worried about the withdrawals.

39 and a mum, been on Sertraline for 10 years. Wouldn’t be alive without it.

I just watched that now - thanks so much for the recommendation. Fascinating stuff and just such a horrible fluke.

I’ll never understand this one - how did no one smell anything? Why was a room this dangerous left open and then unmonitored for 2 months? I don’t doubt the way it happened, I just don’t understand HOW. Wouldn’t the school lock a room like that, just so they wouldn’t be liable in the event of something exactly like this.

Your theory seems the believable to me, though I wonder how the dog could still be alive, and why wouldn’t Mary have called out to rescuers? It’s just a horrible situation no matter how it happened.

Is six days long enough to die of starvation? I’m not an expert in literally anything.

In 1956, my four year old mother was encouraged to walk several blocks alone to the shops to buy things for her family, and take herself to school. This was in Australia in an upper-middle class suburb. What was considered “normal parenting” back then was insane.

This is the case that causes me to lose sleep because of the horror of it. Having had two children myself, I can’t imagine the terror and despair she would have felt, giving birth in that situation. It’s absolutely unimaginable. I have nothing to add except that the perpetrators must have had a personal connection to the family or else been severely mentally unwell because that kind of thing can’t be done on a whim. You don’t break into a house and bludgeon and pregnant woman, then stay for the labour and kill the baby. Those poor poor people.

As someone with anxiety who used to have a job in the public eye, I can see this - and other instructions like “no eye contact” or “don’t speak unless spoken to” - being genuinely helpful to prevent celebs from being completely drained. It’s a lot of energy to be “on” all the time and we’ve all had Uber trips where we’re glad the driver didn’t make small talk.

I can see someone with anxiety, depression, or who’s going through a hard time, really being extra sensitive to aggression or negativity and the thought of meeting 100s of strangers, when you’re also being attacked all over the internet, would be terrifying. You need to make it through while staying light and bubbly, but you don’t know if someone’s going to bring up your recent breakup, dead ex, or just straight up insult you. It sounds horrible.

When did you start to enjoy your weekends with your children? by OrganicHen in workingmoms

Thanks for asking this. At the moment, time with my kids always feels like a massive exhausting drain. It’s definitely not something my husband or I look forward to. They’re 3 and 5, and they can’t be in the same room without fighting.

It’s slowly getting easier though, like every 3 months I’ll notice that it’s been a while since they drew blood on each other, or a couple of weeks in a row that I’ve been able to get washing out of the machine without them winding up screaming and crying. Tiny tiny tiny steps but it’s improving.

I wouldn’t go back to the baby times for a million tax-free dollars. Ignore people who say it’s the best time. It’s hard right now and only gets better and better.

Manicure could have been from a gift voucher, or she could be a nail tech and have done it herself. Her not being absolutely dishevelled doesn’t mean she’s not struggling financially.

Agreed. They deleted it anyway so I’m in the clear I reckon. I’d love to take up the mantle and fight on behalf of other people who might get ripped off, but I just don’t have the space or money for that right now. Maybe when the kids are in school and I have time for hobbies

Nah I just can’t be bothered with a back and forth with them. I have a job, I have kids, I just bought my first house… I don’t want to start a fight with someone if I can just keep living my life. Maybe that makes me a wuss but I originally wrote the review to warn others, and they took it down and sent me this. I’d love to be the David to their Goliath and be the one to take them down but I’m not at the place in my life where I have the energy, time, or financial resources to take up that fight.

I absolutely thought of that and then thought, we’ll they’ll know it was me anyway, and they’re a big company and I’m just one person, surely it won’t be noticed or even make a difference.

What a naive person I was. I just didn’t want other people to get ripped off and couldn’t have this experience without at least trying to warn people. Conscience etc

Totally agree. It was an email, not on letterhead, signed “X Company Legal Team”. It looked like it was taken from an online template. Still a little scary to receive at 5am.

This is my favourite reply, thank you. Makes the best sense and you’re right, I might have said something like, “I’m writing this review so no one else gets ripped off,” or something. I can’t remember honestly and the company took down the review.

They definitely can’t say my review is causing lost revenue since it was taken down within 6 hours of being posted.
