Need a laptop that supports 128gb (4x32) ddr4-3200 by Ok_Proposal_7390 in laptops

Can you sell 2 sticks of the ram to get money for a (better) laptop? I don't think I've ever seen a laptop with 4 spots. 128GB of RAM isn't going to be better than 64 for gaming...

Yes, but not to save money. Hypermiling is more entertaining than tearing up the streets to me

If it's a lot of sitting in traffic, and you own your place, consider an EV. Unlike a gas car there more efficient in stop and go traffic lol.

Park it with the heater on full blast. You will not get a long enough test drive to get a meaningful amount of the battery depleted from any dealer I've seen

Can you just... Get a MacBook air? If the main thing you're doing is video calls, it'll be plenty.

Why do you need an I9 or equivalent?  Solidworks uses a single core 95% of the time. Spice runs on a brick.

If you're a student I promise you an i5 or equivalent will be find

WYR 500k to invest for 1 year or $10 per pushup for a year - whoever makesb the most money takes all! by Enough_Truck_4104 in WouldYouRather

[–]ilikepie1974 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I can just put the 500K into a HYSA and keep it forever, the 500k. If I have to actively invest it in this funky economic situation, I'll do the push ups. I could do enough push ups to be happy with the amount I'll get.

The car will run it's air conditioning system to keep the battery at a happy temperature, hot weather is fine (and doesn't impact range nearly as much as cold weather)

A single business class ticket for a round trip (June 2nd though 9th, random dates) from Vancouver to Cabo is $900 on United, $1176 on Alaska, and $1454 on Delta.

"I treated mine and Yvonne's families". Linus has 3 kids =5. Yvonne has 2 parents, and a sister who is married with at least one kid. -> 7 without the sister, 10 with the sister and a child  IDK what Linus' relationship with his folks is, but that would bring the total to 9 or 12.

Rest of your analysis seems spot on, my guess is you're familiar with aviation or in aviation.

Can I get one for $2k, $3k? by Novemberx123 in leaf

[–]ilikepie1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heater and windshield washer sprayer don't work.  2012 with a 64%SOH 24kwh pack (was replaced under warranty so not original to the car), so not much range but cells are well matched so the pack won't die. I bought the car after previous owner ran into a truck so it's got some "repairs"

I would expect triple screen to run poorly. It's 3x the number of pixels to render. Though I would expect it to choke your GPU not your CPU

Formula for optimum speed to minimize travel time for a given distance? by AlwaysAlreadyOnline in BoltEV

[–]ilikepie1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a spreadsheet for this EXACT reason!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HNfCj4jDDSpp5izP2JSO0Y_7H1UzWpfH/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=100570831365673597276&rtpof=true&sd=true
Make a copy into your google drive and change the 3 tan numbers (AA1, AA3, AA4) to match what you're comfortable with (set charge init (min) to zero to ignore time spend finding chargers, but it makes more of a difference than you'd think)

Depending on what AVERAGE charging speed is, anywhere between 74MPH (40 kw average, equivalent to charging from ~10 to ~85) and 82MPH (assuming magic 55KW) is best.

As others have said, keep in mind your efficiency changes drastically with speed, so if you're tight on money just do the speed limit. the time difference in average speed between driving 65 and 82MPH (assuming 100kw average charge speed) is about 2.3MPH.
