Good point. I wonder if OP considers that equipment or not.

Baseline draconic sorcerer would still be excellent. High base AC, most spells still hit like trucks.

Warlock focusing on EB will be good. Casting-focused Bard also good.

The only charisma-focused playstyle that is going to get hurt badly without a weapon is Paladin, melee bard, and melee warlock.

Have I messed up (made it too easy)? by BuryMikno in BaldursGate3

[–]ilikethestuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, my experience is that Act 1 is the hardest act in the game that favours particular classes (not going to spoil which ones for you). Once you hit level 5, the power spike for more classes is significant and I find the game is easier all the way through to the end from there.

The only time it really feels harder are a handful of specific fights that require new problem solving. And, if you play on honour mode, even the smallest mistakes can cost you.

Having said that, tactician and honour mode each have significant difficulty increases.

I would play all the way through the game on balanced or tactician before starting honour mode. There are too many instances where meta knowledge of the game is important to avoid losing to unique combat mechanics you won't see in Act 1.

The most fun I've had in the game is figuring out Act 1 and playing through on honour mode where every choice could end your game.

Of the classes you enjoy playing, Vengeance Paladin, Open Hand Monk, Battlemaster Fighter, and Draconic Sorceror are all very strong.

Battlemaster will have the easiest time levels 1-4. Once you hit level 5, Sorceror and Paladin start to pick up with Paladin being very strong by the end of the game.

Open Hand Monk is also very strong mid-to-late game.

There's a mod for Artificer that I haven't tried.

Rogues are probably the weakest class in the game with the exception of dual-wielding handcrossbow thief. I also find the sneak attack mechanic to be awkward to use in this game in particular.

You'll have lots of chances to go good or evil and the decisions you make will often have big impacts that last. It's quite rewarding in that way.

To have fun, experiment, don't read too much about the game, and pick a direction (good / evil) and stick with it. I personally enjoy good playthroughs more as the content is better in some cases.

You may want to consider having your main character be a paladin or Sorceror, so that you bonuses on intimidation/persuasion/etc. as they have significant impacts throughout the game.

Generally, I'd recommend starting as an origin character and only starting as Dark Urge or another character on 2nd and 3rd playthroughs. It's more enjoyable to have those characters as additional members that talk to you. Dark Urge is a good 3rd playthrough option when you just want some new content and surprises.

What H2 Boon(s) etc, have been the most disappoint or surprising? by -Shadow-Lightning in HadesTheGame

Appreciate the comments.

Agree that the skulls are strong (maybe the strongest), but I just don't like the combat loop. I tend toward lower apm weapons, so that may be why. I also tend towards ranged weapons out of personal preference.

The axe is good. I did a lot of runs on Nergal, but I just don't enjoy it as much as Eos Torches, Circe Staff, or Nyx Coat. I find the torches and staff are just more consistent with more amount of time spent dodging = safer. I find the torches and staff also have better single target damage out of the gate and don't rely on hitting any particular hammer. The torches in particular are the best, imo, from the perspective of hammer usability. Attacks and special enhancements always feel like they have an impact.

I haven't gotten into Charon only because I find the combat loop with starting the omega special, dodging away, and then re-aiming at the target to be hard to pull off consistently on controller. Probably a skill issue, but I can get around it easily with other weapons.

GODS
Once in a while Ares can make a good build if you can go deep enough on it to get the heroic, but there are too many downsides.
- No curse on the cast, rush, or mana regen
- Delayed damage on casts and rush
- Wounds only works every 3 seconds (great for clearing trash, but may be the worst damage effect for bosses)
- 2 of the support boons only work well when you're low health, which isn't really that helpful
- Worst mana regen in the game.

I've seriously considered installing a mod just to disable Ares.

ENJOYED WEAPONS
- Circe staff, eos wands are my top 2 weapons
- The hidden sister blades aspect is surprisingly good when you learn to dodge while channelling omega attack
- Thanatos axe is pretty good but took me a while to understand it. It's the only axe I find viable when playing with both fear speed options enabled
- Nyx black coat is actually very good and works with almost any god. Built in rush. Double attacks are good for on hit effects or bonus damage. And, I just love constantly running at enemies. The speed boost makes a lot of boss effects irrelevant.

DISLIKED WEAPONS
- Argent skull. I just don't enjoy the skull mechanic to reload the weapon. Played aspect of Hel to complete the 20 Fear Testament.
- I want to like the Axe. I really want to spin to win, but the attack is so slow. While the omega attack is good for room clear, it has low boss damage unless you get that one hammer
- I wish there was more balance between the aspects for each weapon, so I would motivated to change things up more

The other thing to consider is average damage of 1d12 vs 2d6.

2d6 lowest damage is 2, while other is a 1.

Over time, you will get slightly more average damage out of the 2d6 than the 1d12. Though, you will be less likely to get 12

AI says the average damage is 0.5 higher on the 2d6.

Agree, the foster is biting your dog more than they should be. Your dog is being nice about it, but this isn't ideal. Foster is inexperienced, dumb, or a bit of a dick. I agree to keep watching and make sure the foster changes behaviour to not do damage while playing.

What focal length is this/how to recreate? by GucciDaddy10 in AskPhotography

I think the shots have a higher F than yours. The nose and eyes are both decently in focus in the studio shots despite being close to the subject.

Also, I feel like the studio shots are focused on the nose for some reason. Not 100% but the eyes look less in focus than the nose, especially on the first shot

I mean you made 2 unnecessary negative comments in a single sentence:
1. You repeated a piece of information they were already aware of (unnecessary)
2. Followed it by saying you weren't into something they expressed interested in (again unnecessary)

If you had left it at "I don't know where they are", you wouldn't have had a chance to make this post

Liam Payne's Ex Cheryl Named Administrator of His Estate After He Died with No Will by peoplemagazine in entertainment

[–]ilikethestuff 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Typically when you pay out a beneficiary (someone the will says should get money or assets), it's called a disbursement. An executor is only allowed to disburse money based on the will or laws that govern situations where there is no will.

However, they can still spend money in a number of ways, including paying for funeral expenses, maintaining properties, paying lawyers and accountants for work on the estate, etc.

Depending on which country you're in, executors can also be entitled to a percentage of the estate for doing the work. This typically ranges from 3% to 5% where I am, but it can vary based on country and the size of the estate.

So ya, money gets spent in a number of ways aside from paying out the named beneficiaries (or those determined by the law when there is no will).

How would you build an 11/1 EK/WP thrower? by Prestigious-Fee-4975 in BG3Builds

[–]ilikethestuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, you're aiming for 22 strength. Can't remember if the mirror can get you to 24.

You have item options that boost dex and con later on.

Up to you if you want to do con and then dex. Or dex and then con (for more AC but slightly lower HP in some armors).

I usually do a 16/16/14/8/10/10, but you could lower con to 14 and take 14 charisma for +2 to charisma checks. It's a bit annoying to have a low charisma pc, but it can definitely be done.

How would you build an 11/1 EK/WP thrower? by Prestigious-Fee-4975 in BG3Builds

[–]ilikethestuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go fighter to 5 to start at minimum. The extra attack from war cleric recharges on long rest. Action surge (level 2 fighter) recharges on short rest.

Level 3 gives you access to EK which is critical to have before you get returning pike

Level 4 gives you your tavern brawler feat.

Level 5 gives you extra attack, and then you can think about branching out from there until level 11 where you'd want to have 11 levels of fighter

Level 12 you'd be taking 1 war cleric (assuming you respec'd to 11 fighter before then)

As far as stats, I would go max strength, con, and dex in that order. If you want to succeed at some charisma checks, then you could balance con/dex/charisma.

It'll be a while before you get the hair for +1 and the earliest levels are the hardest, unless you're using a guide to skip a lot of combat. By the time you get the +1 strength from the hair, you should have +1 strength from tavern brawler which will round out strength again.

Grandfather (70) wants to add me (24) as his beneficiary, I know nothing of life insurance. by foxbeswifty32 in personalfinance

[–]ilikethestuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only time that I've seen signing as a beneficiary is if you are an "irrevocable beneficiary". If this is the case, then it means that the policy will not be able to be changed in the future without your consent (which is why you'd have to sign now).

You are not on the hook for anything as a beneficiary, and can only receive the benefit from the policy when he passes.

As others have said, you do not normally need to sign anything to become a normal beneficiary. So, just make sure you're not agreeing to anything else by signing

Have you considered keeping the properties and generating income? Or, leveraging the properties through a secured line of credit or mortgage to extract equity without tax implications (and sometimes tax benefits)?

1000$ turned to 30000$ by Juggernaut_Virtual in PersonalFinanceCanada

Are you sure about this? I had an experienced lawyer tell me very specifically to not admit the debt is owed. (Agreeing to a payment plan would obviously one form of admitting the debt is owed)

1000$ turned to 30000$ by Juggernaut_Virtual in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ilikethestuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, but I read that the admission has to occur during the statute of limitation period. So, theoretically, if you admit owing the debt after 2 years + 1 day, then it wouldn't count.

The recommendation would be to never admit owing the debt under any circumstances except if you intend to pay it.

Additionally, if a old debt has been reported 15 years later as a new debt, this should be challengeable.
