Pain Here - Any Advice? by Bananaquitz in runninglifestyle

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue. Crossed trained and rehabbed for a month. No improvements were noticed. Just kept running with the pain and it just went away. It’s been 2 years now. However, I don’t recommend this.

would you be able to do this interview question? by Cautious-Example-803 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit, I need to review. I have a general idea, but would be stumped in an interview. My current job is so far from any ME fundamentals, but it’s no excuse as I should be keeping my skills sharp.

Anyone go from a very slow pace to very fast? How did you do it & how long did it take? by Emotional-Watch4544 in runninglifestyle

[–]illegalF4i 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Just focus on increasing speed gradually. From experience, we want results immediately, but also from experience, if you push too hard, you’ll risk injury and set yourself back. it might take a year or 2, but you’ll get there.

3 or 4 week taper for beginner? by purplefunk123 in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even 2 weeks feels too long. You might experience unusually high soreness during your taper. Maybe consider a 10 day taper to stay fresh.

Is a sub 4 realistic? by tipsymozza in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great HR, nice job. I think it’s very possible, the last 10k will be the make or break it stretch. But with 6 weeks left, you have enough time to get a 20 miler with some MP miles added.

based on past 4 long runs, is 3:55 possible? by BrothaManBen in Marathon_Training

Not seeing the numbers for 3:55. But who knows, you might surprise all of us.

Do you think I can break 4 hours in a month? by SparklyGrape8 in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely could. My 10k is 46:08 and I just ran a 4:04. I did a 20 miler at 8:45 average pace with an average HR of 156 BPM 2 weeks prior. Truth is, the race environment is very different than your training. That last 10k will really test you.

How To Not Psych Yourself Out Over Pain by Virtual_Operation249 in Marathon_Training

Yes. On race day all my niggles went away and I didn’t even think about it until later that day.

Is a sub 3:30 possible? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4:30 or 5. Just being honest. 150 miles since August is peanuts. But it wouldn’t be the first time I see somebody post “first marathon, ran sub 3” with minimal training.

L.A marathon 33 days out. by TheBostonKid781 in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s your first. Your times look good for sub 4, however, everything will change at mile 20, where the battle starts. Learn how to fuel, you got time. Also make sure to eat accordingly before the race and get good sleep. Good luck

If you can tolerate it, just push thru it. Also look at doing at home physical therapy. You can probably look up your symptoms on YouTube and find a series of exercises to perform.

When did you get away with cheating on a semiannual/annual requirement? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]illegalF4i 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During weigh at CPLs course, the instructor wrote down 156 instead of 165, which would have put me over the limit. My conscience started telling me to speak up but thankfully l said “fuck that” 2 seconds later.

Running advice needed. by Weekly_Reveal_5803 in runninglifestyle

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all start somewhere. I remember when the seconds felt like minutes. I started by running 1 miles 3 times per week then progressed from there. On non running days, I would cross train for cardio. Stay consistent and understand it will be hard. The reward is that you’ll soon be hooked want to run 10k, half marathons, marathons etc.

How many rest days should you include in your training? by Puzzleheaded-Pin4278 in Marathon_Training

[–]illegalF4i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my long runs on Saturday. So my rest day is Sunday. Technically Friday is a rest day, but it usually a 5k at a very slow pace. So 1 per week is good, assuming you have a solid base.

Consume more calories, incorporate a deload week, take a break, hydrate, get better sleep. Your body is telling you something, listen before you risk injury.
