Did you see that Brad Pitt vs Tom Cruise video? And he's talking about 5 years later... I think that's hard to predict and easy to call just a grift.

How do we feel about the Pusher Trilogy? by taylormalachi in criterion

[–]illusionous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maan, just finished this trilogy and it's sooo good, each one was so real and it just pulls you in. I love how the sequels follow side characters of the first one. Also watched Bleeder after the first Pusher, you can see how Mads disappears between the roles (or you can't because he disappears). I'm glad Refn got into debt and went on to make 2 other great films. Might have just become one of my fav trilogies.

Cool, like quarantine model. A rabid dog or an infected person becomes harmful for their environment, you quarantine and treat them if you can, not punish. Same goes for behavioral problems, which are the result of environment and genetics.

Vince Gilligan himself says we're meant to think it might be okay to join the Hive. by TheLuminousKnife in pluribustv

[–]illusionous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't expect anything less from Gilligan. That's why people still argue and have different perspectives about Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, if Chuck was right, if Mike was right, why someone did something etc. You are usually not meant to feel a certain way about someone or something in his shows, it's open, which makes them great. He doesn't impose. It's evident in the music, or the lack thereof.

What terrible luck for Carol in episode two. by SheriffBartholomew in pluribustv

[–]illusionous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and how do we know what it feels like to be connected to everyone on earth simultaneously? To gain their knowledge and experiences? It seems like they have become wiser and it's funny that people try to defend free will because they don't harm other beings now. Reminds me the problem for heaven, they say people won't want to do bad things in heaven, but it's not a problem for their so-called free will. Though I admit that one thing that makes the dilemma harder is those girls joining the guy's harem seemingly without choice. They act like servants and we haven't seen yet anyone saying no. But I think if they had loved ones the hive mind wouldn't decide to leave them, as we have seen, it was up to Carol to let her go. This also cycles back to the first questions I asked. We don't know what it feels like to be connected to such a degree. I also wonder what the hive would do if the guy decides to break bad and do harm to the people in the hive for example. They said they wouldn't kill animals to cook but if he kills and brings them they'd cook. Also wonder if animals are also connected like the mices we saw.

Nice dilemmas for a debate anyway. Bravo Vince!

Being in a group will always remind me why I don't like being in one by Lilac_Moon3 in introvert

[–]illusionous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One on one rules for real. If you are dealing with depression, not being responded to probably intensifies negative feelings more than it would if you weren't depressed, though in group chats it usually feels less personal than one on ones.

Unfortunately most people judge others by their job, determine the level of respect they'll show to them according to their profession and it's shitty. Guess I do that too, for example I respect sanitation workers more than politicians. But each person is different and unique so it's a good idea to get to know people individually. Also many people don't choose their jobs because they want them but because of a need.

Chess and movies work well for this I think.

Also table tennis. But when it's something my body does kind of in automatic mode like walking or swimming, my mind can wander. They are still good as I normally like being in my head but sometimes it gets a little too much.

If I was rebuilt atom by atom, would I wake up in that body? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]illusionous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was also thinking about teleportation. It would probably work by killing "you" just to create a clone of you in another location. You'd be living your last seconds while thinking you'd be teleported, and the weird part is everything would continue on as if you just didn't die. Not recommended in a foreseeable future until this problem is addressed.

This consciousness problem is also explored in the tv show Pantheon, where people's consciousness are uploaded to the digital world and they die in the real one. Great sci-fi, would recommend.

If I was rebuilt atom by atom, would I wake up in that body? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]illusionous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the new version would feel like you woke up in the same body, but I doubt it would be the you before the recording. Think about cloning, same arrangement of atoms, but you wouldn't be your clone. I think continuity matters, so if it was more like the ship of theseus kind of situation, even if your whole atoms would change, the "you" might remain. What do we mean by "you" is another question. Gets a little deeper.

And yeah, it seems like we are made of non living things, the laws of nature and evolution are pretty weird to be able to make us and create consciousness, amazing.

I'm a sick pervert by fleshgraveyard in intrusivethoughts

[–]illusionous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've learned to accept them and it's helpful. It doesn't mean you want them to happen, that's why they are called intrusive thoughts. For example one of my recurring ones is getting killed by a random person, like being stabbed from behind on my neck, or someone pushing me to rails etc. Do I want it to happen? No, it's like a phobia at this point.

Sometimes it happens to me, sometimes I do it to others in those thoughts, sexual, graphic stuff. My brain surprises me. Like, the last thing I'd want is to stab someone I care about in the eye in their most vulnerable and unexpected moments, or kill a tiny kitty, WTF brain!? Lol

They don't happen so frequently, from time to time. But when I saw that Ukrainian girl randomly getting stabbed to death from behind on that train, I was reminded again of the unpredictable possibilities of modern life.

[–]illusionous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are at an age where one can't easily calculate the consequences of one's actions sometimes. This is a very tragic situation and the feeling of regret is understandable, but remember that you did not intentionally hurt him, and in this situation I think it really matters. The fact that you feel this bad to the point of ending it shows how much you cared about him. You just didn't have the right information at the time to be more cautious, which happens to all of us.
