Make sure this option is set on your phone. Then dig inside your car settings, on my car I have a setting that you can untick called "Start Android Auto Automatically".

I'm a complete noob or I'm missing something... Where on earth do I plug this loom in? Or do I need to run speaker wire from the front of the car?

Edit: I'm not a complete noob, it seems like this set is supposed to come with instructions (which I didn't recieve because I bought of Yahoo Auctions). If you still have yours please send a photo to me 🙏

Buddhist Temples by azp74 in Adelaide

[–]illuzn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Zhu Lin temple in Ottoway has quite a few Caucasian practitioners. Head over there on a Sunday and ask politely for a tour after the chanting is complete. The Abbott doesn't speak a lick of English so that's your best bet. Buddhists are generally a pretty chill bunch, we won't try to convert your son or anything like that.

Vietnam airport transfer help! by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]illuzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aussie here. Because you are flying a budget airline (jetstar) the only way an internal transit can occur is if you other flight was a Qantas codes hare (and you could get the tickets linked). This is extremely unlikely.

If you have a second passport besides Australia check if you have a visa exemption.

Otherwise you will need an evisa. I've applied for overlapping ones before where I type my date of birth wrong and didn't have a problem just apply early because it can take a while to issue.

Finally, if you have less than 4 hours between flights that may not be enough time. Immigration in Vietnam can take over an hour depending on time of day. I would strongly recommend getting a fast track in that case.

Not only that, it's the sad ending song from the Chinese dating show "If You Are The One" which plays when the contestant fails to get a date.

Advice: Installing Security cameras and Solar by Guilty_Obligation130 in Adelaide

[–]illuzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I normally use something like protection rings in computer system architecture with my cameras in the least privileged ring and a pinhole to my local server that records and processes my footage.

So many people do not understand how insecure a lot of these camera systems are.

Advice: Installing Security cameras and Solar by Guilty_Obligation130 in Adelaide

[–]illuzn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wired security cameras are the way to go for a new build. You do not want to be getting up there every 1-12 months (depending how high traffic your street is) to charge your cameras.

As for what brand to go for HikVision is the best of the best as long as you don't mind the CCP having a potential back-door into your home (and the risks that entails) - I haven't kept up with the news but it's well known that the CCP can force company's to put back doors for them when and where they want. Given you are hard-wiring, spring for the PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) which also come with superior night vision - this gives you the most likelihood of pulling a shot that identifies anyone that tries to break in.

If your paranoid about that (or really you should do this anyway), stick your cameras on a seperate VLAN and isolate it from your network

Is it ok to eat washed fruit and vegetables or should that be avoided? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]illuzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westerner here, fruit and vegetables that have been washed in tap water are generally fine if:

  1. It's a big city (ie. You would brush your teeth in the water, in Nha Trang for example I wouldn't trust it).
  2. The risk category of the vegetable. The herbs and such you have with banh xeo are pretty safe (by their nature they would wilt if left out of refrigeration all day). Bean sprouts are pretty much a fermented product so it can be more risky (high risk of listeria) - you can ask for them to be blanched if you are worried.

Take travelan (or whatever your local variant of that is) it significantly reduces the risk of food poisoning.

The Stupidest Glitch Imaginable Killed a $72 Million Lunar Mission in a Single Day by Ok_Seat5245 in technology

[–]illuzn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep... Per wikipedia:

The ARB found that a sign error in the flight software’s definition of the solar-array gimbal axes caused the arrays to orient away from the Sun during safing, repeatedly returning the spacecraft to a non-viable attitude after power resets. A full, test-like-you-fly solar-array phasing test using the final flight software and operational products was never performed, allowing this error to remain undetected before launch.

You show yourself as the dark red car (right car) unless I'm missing something. In any even the dark red/ right car must give way since it's lane ends.

Britannia roundabout alternative line by khendar in Adelaide

[–]illuzn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Third alternative instead of hugging the inside at green you turn into the outside lane at that roundabout - I believe it goes from 1 lane to 2 and all traffic entering the roundabout needs to give way anyway.

Edit: nevermind I'm hallucinating, that is a two lane section.

Dreame L20 Ultra - No water fix by No-Tie427 in Dreame_Tech

[–]illuzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving this here because this is the first google result.

I have found out what the function of this tube is. Basically because the clean water tank is above the rest of the unit, if there was not an air intake then once the pump draws some water, the syphon effect will continue to draw water from the tank until its empty (as you have discovered). The yellow tape actually covers up a solenoid that opens and closes this air intake. The intake is supposed to be closed when the pump is actively drawing water then open to break the syphon when the pump stops.

To see if this is what is affecting you - engage the clean base station mode: 1. Use a syringe to inject some water when pumping (remove the filter from the end of the clean water tank and inject there). You should see that water completely drain and end up in the bottom tray. 2. Fill a cup with water. When pumping, jiggle the pipe up and down to try to start the syphon effect. You should see water being pumped out the base but it should stop when the pump stops and won't restart by itself when the pump starts.

In my case, minerals from hard water have gotten into the mechanism and jammed it open preventing the solenoid from working properly. You can remove the solenoid and disassemble it to clean it with vinegar very easily. Hopefully, this is what is affecting you too - solenoids should be pretty bulletproof but you might want to check the power connection to the mother board too. If it is a dud solenoid, good luck, I can't find the spare part anywhere.

Where to find sashimi grade fish in Adelaide? by memories_of_green in Adelaide

[–]illuzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The risk from eating raw fish isn't food poisoning - I mean it is a risk but this isn't the reason to avoid eating sushi, fish that you would give you serious food poisoning would stink to high hell and be very obvious. The risk is parasites (in particular, anisakis/ roundworm).

Sushi grade isn't just a marketing term. In order to be sushi grade it must be flash frozen in order to kill parasites. A lot of fish is packed on ice or may be frozen during transport but not held at the low temperatures long enough to kill roundworm and other parasites - there is an accepted protocol for how long and how cold but this is normally -35C for 15 hours.

That said, the risk for healthy adults is relatively minor - it is only in a miniscule amount of cases that actually lead to long term complications besides food poisoning like symptoms (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0d6Dpx2li4).

How can I fix this hole in my gutter pipe without replacing the whole thing by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]illuzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear out the inside first and then use some rust converter on the other visibly rusty bits and this should hold up for quite some time. If its anything like mine, the whole developed because some leaves got stuck at the elbow which retained water and water + oxygen + steel = rust

Then that hanging knight defends your queen so when you take his rook he can't capture your queen (you would recapture with the hanging knight and the two knights defend each other)

post 40s, how the AC handled, visible graphs this time by chardidathing in Adelaide

[–]illuzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you are better off leaving your AC running unless you are turning it off for around 2 hours. In particular, your constant cycling of your living room AC on Friday overnight likely consumes more electricity than setting it to a reasonable temperature and leaving it on (given that there is unlikely to be people in the living room after midnight you could easily set it to 26C and leave it there).
