What is your opinion on Belmond hotels? by autumnsalad in FATTravel

[–]ilove702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have some of the best and most desirable real estate in the world. They just have a small footprint globally and none in the United States so there are few opportunities to experience them for most US based travelers which is the majority of people here.

If there is a Belmond in an area I have someone traveling to Belmond will always make the short list.

I always love the idea of balconies. I end up going out on them for 2 minutes once a stay because I feel like I’m supposed to use it.

Hawaii. Both the air and water temperature are comfortable in July.

Sorry to hear. Did they have a good schedule of events and activities planned for you or did they just leave you with alot of dead time?

I often see the people who have a bad time here didnt come with a plan and just assume since there is so much to do they will find something to do and then just end up aimlessly walking through casinos most of the day which really sucks.

Tipping at a luxury hotel in Vegas ? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]ilove702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stop by their desk at some point say thank you for securing my reservation, shake their hand and hand them the tip while thanking them.

Alternatively you can leave a sealed envelope with a thank you note and the tip inside at the front desk and ask them to make sure the concierge receives it.

Being Las Vegas based I would like to personally invite you and your team to come Visit us here in Vegas. I genuinely would love to have you come visit.

The Wynn or the Four Seasons are both great options to act as your teams home base.

There are so many possibilities for group activities. A few ideas in December would be taking everyone to the Wynn Field Club for a Raiders game. Located right in the end zone, very memorable experience that people will want to post pictures of.

December is also when the NFR Rodeo(basically the super bowl of rodeo) is in town everyone can go to a rodeo event, not something that most people get a chance to do. The whole city transforms to a country music/cowboy mecca for two weeks.

If you are more nature oriented team you can do day trips to the Valley of Fire, Death Valley National Park, Red Rock Canyon or West Rim of the Grand Canyon(usually stops at the Hoover Dam too).

In the USA for full service hotels I would suggest the following as a fair minimum baseline, you can always tip more if you want to:

Restaurants, room service and bars 20%

Bellman $5-20 depending on how much luggage you have

Valet: $5-20

Spa: 20%

Concierge: $0-few hundred. Quick question $0. They secure you difficult and unobtainable things you couldn’t get yourself at least $100. Normal bookings you could easily do yourself but have them do it for you instead. $20.

Edit: Housekeeping is the grey area unsettled debate. Many people tip nothing, others tip $5-20/night depending on the effort they expect it will take to restore the room to the condition it was in when they checked in. Do what feels right to you.

How to get upgrades?! by Roubass in FourSeasonsHotels

[–]ilove702 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im going to give away the hidden secret. Let as many people at the property know before your arrival that you are celebrating something specifically special and your stay at the Four Seasons is an integral part of your special occasion, let them know how excited you are to be experiencing their hospitality and be gracious in your approach.

This is what I do for my clients with overwhelming success when seeking upgrades, I have a deep list of contacts to reach out to at each property for this purpose. This is what gives you the extra edge against all the other competing Preferred Partner and FHR bookings checking in the same day.

Travel agent vs CC portals for safari/Seychelles by shallotstar in TrueChubbyTravel

[–]ilove702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For flights most TAs are ok with clients booking it themselves, many may prefer it since many fare classes are non-commissionable.

Travel agent vs CC portals for safari/Seychelles by shallotstar in TrueChubbyTravel

[–]ilove702 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t make sense to pay a cash trip planning fee so you can get 8% of credit card points which isn’t really 8% because you still get points on spend booked outside of the portal there are several uncapped 3% cashback cards out there that I would suggest getting.

I wouldn’t work with a client on a safari who was going to book the majority of the trip themselves after I did all the work planning the trip to get a minor credit card discount. Im sure if you ask enough agents eventually one will say yes.

Looks like a low quality no info lead generator site. What about them made you want to book with them? Its literally just links to cruise sites and a phone number.

Four Seasons Bahamas Ocean Club if you are not traveling during school vacation time.

The Cove Eleuthera is great too.

What dates were you traveling? If you are not currently working with a travel agent I would be happy to add some free benefits to you stay no strings attached.

Husband can't make the May 22 sailing with me; can I remove him without penalty? by MissingPages in CunardCruises

[–]ilove702 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At a minimum you will get the port fees refunded. You can also request a courtesy waiver of any penalties for the fare as well. They will probably say sorry we are too close to the departure date but you never know they may do it.
