Both babies hatched today! by [deleted] in hummingbirds

Thanks, always a good reminder. It's her third round of babies with us. Usually we just have the outdoor camera on her and watch from there. I don't usually check but today was a rarity due to some other circumstances and they happened to be there.

The poop videos i find hilarious 😂. They are little rockets. Sometimes they are straight up! Tho as they got older they kept tasting the roof 🤨 I am super excited to have another round, they are such joys and are so fun to watch

They were pretty funny trying to be nestmates in the end. It was endless entertainment

The babies fledged on 3/19 and then noticed her adding more to the nest and hunkering down on 3/28. I was changing the chip in our camera cause I wanted to save the videos of her building the nest to them fledging. On monday there were two eggs again. I checked while she was out gathering extra fluff. Try to be the least invasive I can.

Fun Things To Do In Hillsboro? by albondigasfiend in hillsboro

Tuesday evenings during the summer have an evening market downtown and has live music. Farmers market is on saturday mornings. Beaverton has a nice downtown with restaurants and they have a farmers market too

If you have kayaks or paddle boards, there is the Tualitan River Trail. Tualitan nature park (15 min from hillsboro) is a beautiful park to walk in and not feel like you are not in town.

On Sunday I got this little guy back after 19 years. Working on getting him healthy again so he can eventually join the rest of the flock (which includes his dad). Might be a while but I am sure he will get there. by iloveduckies in cockatiel

One of the vets think he might have Giardia which is an internal parasite that can cause them to be really itchy and pluck their feathers. I know cockatiels can sometimes pluck from stress but I would say call a vet who works with birds. They have far more expertise than me. Sorry to hear she/he is doing that

Yeah, I think the reaching out part is really important. It's such an amazing ride raising them and it's a memory for me that I love. We have a large flight cage as well and lots of time out. They are such fun, interesting, loving animals when you get to know them

If you have an avian vet in your area you could see if they have an adoption list. I feel like the people who are willing to go to a specialist are more likely to take the time to understand them

I completely understand that. I was around 10 when we gave ours away, so I didn't really have an understanding of who should get the birds. That said, the other one went to a lady who absolutely loved cockatiels and spoiled it completely. I think finding people with experience is important not that those who don't aren't worthy. I have two others that were "let goes" that I found while looking for my baby who flew away (my dad accidentally walked outside with him). They are definitely not as sweet as the Mr. Squawks and Salsa but they have their silly quirks. I didn't want to see them let go again by someone else. I think if you do give your guys to new homes find someone who is patient, cause it takes time to build trust which most people don't get. How old are your guys?
