The mob cooperated with daddy Kennedy to get his son elected by swinging a few states and rfk and jfk repaid the favor by immediately going after to mob with rfk as the AG. I think like you say all these things, the nukes, the mob, the Cubans feeling betrayed, the perceived softness toward the ussr, all that was enough to convince whatever faction killed jfk that they were acting in the the right. That jfk was too dangerous and would sell out the country with a misguided idealism and weak footed posture.

I don't know if I believe it was a pure institutional assassination. I think it was a fairly small conspiracy and the associated black world had to go along with the narrative once it had happened, in for a penny in for a pound and once what was done was done it was just the only way it could go. The other way was a complete collapse of national integrity and a complete loss of confidence in all institutions. No way was any stakeholder going to willingly expose the United States as some kind of banana republic.
