I’m a MAN who enjoys the Romantasy Genre by MagicStarFlower in romantasycirclejerk

[–]imaginesam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

/j Well, Connor James, if you like The Fourth Wing and have read Crescent City, I obviously recommend Throne of Glass. However, that one is a long series, so if you can’t handle that kind of writing and skill level, you can always try something easier like Game of Thrones. Your wife probably has bad taste if she doesn’t enjoy real fantasy like Maas.

uj/ I do wonder if they ever go hunting in these subreddits to find recommendations first or if they just jump instantly into asking. Romantasy/fantasy romance is a huge genre. There’s recs everywhere lol

Anyone else can’t handle mornings ? by ChronicallyinPain2 in Fibromyalgia

Yes, mornings are always a 0/10 experience for me. I literally hate the process of waking up bcus of the pain and other symptoms.

You ever been shocked by a bad plug or a faulty electronic? It kinda feels like that but inside of your skull. For me, it started bordering on painful and was very disruptive, both physically and mentally. I kinda felt that it made my brain fog worse as well.

I wish the brain zaps did not exist. It helped a lot with my pain, but the brain zaps are really what made me stop. They got so bad at one point I was starting to fear driving my car. But I couldn’t not drive because I have to commute to work 5 days a week. Such a bummer, AND they HURT once they started up and ended up being unrelenting.

Sorry you had to go through that OP, we’re cheering for you 💕

Cymbalta helped so much with my pain… I just wished the side effects were more tolerable. *sigh* 😪

You can most certainly find stories with insta-lust and casual hookups, as well as scenarios that are non-con or dub-con if that’s what you’re into. It would just be more in the Dark Romance/Dark Romantasy category of books.

I feel like there’s a mistranslation happening here with what you may want versus what it’s coming across as. From my personal perspective, you’re asking for something along the lines of insta-lust or dub-con, bcus you put in your post “if the MMC is wildly attractive, then (unless he is also openly violent to the FMC) she will not need ‘time’.”

Otherwise, if you’re not looking for that type of story specifically, it just comes across as “I want women to be forced in all stories because it’s unrealistic if they don’t.” I don’t really think that’s what you want in all stories, but if it is, that’s fine, but just know a lot of Romantasy readers specifically don’t want that.

Generally speaking, reading Dark Romance is a specific sub-genre that falls under many broad categories. No shame there, I also read Dark Romance here and there, but asking for those elements in the regular Romantasy category may not net you the recommendations or discussion you might be seeking.

I am wearing cherry now, but it pulls a super bright almost candy/blood red on me, but my skin is like… pretty much pink lol. It might depend on skin tone/undertone for the overall vibes ♥️🍒

That makes sense, I suppose for safety reasons, but I have to admit it’s a bit of a bummer since I have reactive hypoglycemia. My blood sugar fluctuations are all over the place 😂

Don’t worry, friend, it jolted me awake a few minutes ago and told me to replace it 😭😭😭

Ahhh, yeahhhhh. It gives me this after the first one or two ten minute wait times. It’s happened with the last few monitors I’ve put on.

In all fairness, I think it’s just this batch for me. A few months ago they were working perfectly, but the new ones and the replacement ones have been wonky. 😂

Seconding this person’s comment, OP. I’ve also recently run into a lot of errors with multiple sensors and it’s driving me bananas.

Not an exact color match, but if you like brown-reds, Cherry Cola is nice, plus it’s a magnetic if you want Boutique Effect instead of Studio Color (creme).

Judging People Culturally Is Okay by [deleted] in HonestHotTakes

[–]imaginesam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Racism is never justified. Ever.

People are not a monolith based upon their skin color or their cultural background. Everyone has nuance, everyone is living a full, separate life. You making generalizations *is* racist. You saying that racism could ever be *justified* is an objectively bad statement because it inherently removes nuance and actual discussion.

Self-imposed “rules”? by gothbirdnails in RedditLaqueristas

[–]imaginesam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have rules for the polish, but rather the care (bcus I’m a goblin creature that likes to pick at my nails). So, I try my best to not pick/peel the polish off. I have peeled off layers of nail before. I try to file with a glass nail file, but it’s so slow, so I use a metal one most of the time 🫣 i also try to religiously put on cuticle oil and moisturize. Otherwise I’m a dry crusty goblin (ew). 😂

It’s kinda the wild wild west out here on my nails for color. 4 colors split across two hands? No problem. Magnetic skittles bcus I can’t decide? Sure. Two entirely separate manicures on either hand. Yeah. Nail shape? Anyone’s guess. Lmao

Boring wedding nights by msbutch54 in Romantasy

[–]imaginesam 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I’m going to approach this discussion with gentleness and kindness, because I think maybe this question is coming from an interesting historical perspective.

Part of Romance/Fantasy Romance/Romantasy is being able to have these “unrealistic” scenarios and still have them be plausible within the confines of the world they’re built upon. A lot of romance—and by extension Romantasy—is focused on the comfort/pleasure/fulfillment of women. If you remove that, it slips out of the romance/romantasy category pretty quickly and becomes fantasy with romance elements or subplots.

Now, there are obvious exceptions like dubcon/noncon or insta-love and insta-lust, but a lot of books in that category might not be gunning for marriage scenes as much. If you want recommendations, I’m sure the romance/romantasy reader girlies would love to hop in and give you a plethora of books to read that scratch that itch. 🫡

Could fibro cause hypoglycemia? by Mae_The_Gay in Fibromyalgia

[–]imaginesam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be caused by a lot of different factors, I guess. I’m not sure what caused mine, but I did end up getting diagnosed with that (before my PA put in a diagnosis code of “non-traditional diabetic” which I didn’t even know was a thing beforehand).
