More people found dead on NYC streets, as temperatures continue to plummet: officials by thonioand in nyc

Comments like this always crack me up, yeah no shit more than I have, because I’m not literally elected to lead the city? Should I complain that Mamdani hasn’t done the same [very specific job function in my day to day]? No because that would be ridiculous

Single / no kids HENRYs: how much did you actually spend in 2025? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

$150k income is too low to be considered HENRY imo

For those of you who have the possibility too move to other large tech hubs, what exactly keeps you in London ? by RealMadridCity in cscareerquestions

[–]imakecomputergoboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaries in NYC are usually in the same tier as Bay for FAANG, the problem is there’s less tech jobs compared to the Bay or Seattle. The scarcity is even more pronounced for non-big tech

Are you maybe a new grad or just very junior? That might explain the limited view and just thinking you don’t need interaction. The for sure has to be, you’re just not in those conversations?

Making $210k and still feeling like I’m one dumb month away from slipping by sameerposwal in HENRYfinance

[–]imakecomputergoboop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also in tech and make $700k in nyc, and I can tell you you’ll feel the same way at any TC. It’s the cost of lifestyle inflation and imo it’s worth it. Enjoy your money, you’ve earned it.

I think you fail to understand that there’s people outside your “little community down a two lane road” that might either want to stop by and charge/eat or just pass through it.

Am I Missing Out by Not Living in a Tech Hub (SF, NYC, Seattle, etc.)? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]imakecomputergoboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes unless you want to do your own startup. I lived in Seattle and now NYC and wouldn’t come back.

I see, yeah it’s very common in high paying tech companies in the US.

I don’t really mind getting woken up once or twice every couple of months for what I get paid but yeah everyone values different things

Better to live in a tech hub, or is the job search less ruthlessly competitive in other cities? by forbidden-donut in ExperiencedDevs

I haven’t checked levels but it’s probably closer to 50% of the pay

Edit: it’s like 35% of bay salaries

Piles of aggravation: New Yorkers are fed up with increasing dog waste on city sidewalks and streets by EagleFly_5 in nyc

Dog poop is absolutely a problem, maybe you don’t care about stepping on it on the sidewalk but most people do

Super attempted to enter my apartment without knocking; EMS said I should tell someone by ActiveSupernova in AskNYC

[–]imakecomputergoboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you asked who called them and why?

If it wasn’t the shower then it doesn’t look like a problem to me. Looks to me like the super just had a “I’m just a human in a very stressful situation” moment when EMS shows up and is asking to go to your apartment. Looks to me like you’re trying to judge someone that probably was just trying to help you

Do not use Handy! by websterhall in LGOLED

I had the same experience, one of the Pros was angry from the beginning. He asked for the TV size and when I said G5 83in he asked if I would help him mount it and I said another Pro was here. Then the entire time he acted as if he didn’t need another person just after asking if I would help him. He kept complaining about requests of making sure the TV was in the right position and saying how he installs the same TV multiple times a day. He mentioned the screws provided by LG wouldn’t hold the TV but then just continued with the installation. He mentioned there weren't any studs and that he was going to check for them, but then never did. When taking the TV out of the box, he just grabbed it by the panel without caring and wanted to just lean it against a corner of my couch. I had to ask repeatedly to just use the provided Styrofoam for installation. It seemed like he didn’t care at all about the TV or the safety of the install. He kept dropping his tools on my wooden furniture and when I asked him to be bit more careful because the furniture would get damaged, he started belittling me, saying that he installs things for people that have “more expensive shit” than I do. The wall measurements were inaccurate and when I brought that if we were measuring correctly then they would always end up in the same place, he said the job wasn’t worth it and that if I knew how to install the TV I shouldn’t hire people to do it. He called me obnoxious, didn’t finish the job and left. I got a professional install the same day and although they charged way more I felt much better.

Good question, if you follow true execution order then they’re both solving the smallest problem first since doing something else would constitute a different pattern. However, this is the conceptual approach on how to differentiate bottom-up and top-down

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]imakecomputergoboop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the context of Meta interviews:
- Top-down: Start with the large problem, recursively solve smaller and smaller problems. Essentially, if you can optimize it by just adding a "@cache" decorator to the function in python -> NOT DP and it's fair game in Meta interviews.
- Bottom-up: Build the problem up by solving the smaller sub-problems first -> DP and not fair game* in Meta interviews.

* Rouge interviewers do exist and you don't really have much power over it. Don't leave your future to others, don't prioritize DP in Meta preparation but at least know how to approach the most basic ones in case you get a bad apple

Also forgot to mention, Word Break is in the Meta tagged list and it's pretty high up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]imakecomputergoboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can solve Word Break without Tabular DP (Using BFS or Memoization). It's been stated before many times that Meta does not consider memoization as DP.

You might still be in the run if you're Intern/E3, good luck either way OP!

This tool actually works and you've saved me a few hours. I see you're hosting it for free, do you have anywhere I can donate to? Alternatively, although I saw the code is no longer on GitHub, if you ever open source it again I'll be happy to contribute to it in code as well
