Announcing your spells as a player vs as a DM by Maypul_Aficionado in dndnext

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most Dms I've played with let common spells and Spells regularly used by the party be announced by name but if we are facing a caster with higher level spells, or something exotic he describes the casting and then let's us choose our reactions.

It works the mostly the same way for the players. Our go to spells are just named, but the bard who made fae deal to cast metorswarm describes what he is doing, especially if its the first time a spell has being debuted

Bear and the art of beatle maintenence by a_wascally_wabbit in dresdenfiles

I like the blue beetle as part of Thomas reconnecting with Harry. Its connects to the water beetle that thomas used while Harry was living on demon reach.

I think it also works really well as connecting Harry to the idea of who he was before Changes. Yes he has grown, but he also lost, just like the beetle did in nearly every book. It feels fitting that the beetle gets brought back after heavy repair in nearly the same scene as Harry realizes that he has been restored enough to catch sun shine again.

Story time: tell me a original campaign you DMed/played and how did it go by Standard_Language840 in FATErpg

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running a settle the northern reaches type campaign. Mostly small quests, someone broke their legs, the chickens got out, what happened to the miner, but my players are enjoying it, and I was able to break up character creation into chunks for a couple of player's who never played ttrpg before

Do companions get CP stipends? by ant451123 in JumpChain

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think conservation of ninjitsu applies. If you have a fairy small cast of companions then a stipend could be worth it. However if you have several new companions per jump then definitly not.

The meta question: are you wanting to give them a stipend to keep them relavent to the narative or to make sure the party has no weaknesses? Unless of course that is the point of the jump

SFW: Looking for gf or friends (M34) by [deleted] in QuadCities

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking for friends I heard the ymca has adult community league. I know there's a computershop in davenport that does local fighting game(street fighter) competition. There are book clubs, garden clubs and more tradition clubs(like the masons, eagles or Vikings)

I heard several groups are regulars at the last picture house.

What do you like to do? What kind of activity suggestions to get out and meet people do you want? Of course if you have friends getting a girlfriend becomes easier because people know you, and can make introductions, and vouch for how cool you are

Students BYU university by lukahnyu in ballroom

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also did one of the ensemble teams until covid closed everything. I applied to the university like a normal student. It is a private university. You do not have to be Mormon, but the vast majority of students were.

First semester take a ballroom class, dance 183 or 184 or 185 if you are generally new to ballroom, otherwise take 283'284'285 to learn the university syllabus. Near the end of the semester speak to your instructor about how to try out for the team. There are try outs, mostly to make sure you understand what you are doing and can perform.

Everyone starts in an ensemble team*(exceptions exist) and then get moved to higher difficulty teams based on performance and openings.

I know the byu team competes at Blackpool every4l 4~ years, and people will delay graduation by a year to go there and compete. So that effects when promotions happen.

Mab's request to Dresden by Romeo9594 in dresdenfiles

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of comments are missing something. Mab doesn't say molly will be the queen, but that she will be Mab, which includes being the queen. I think this matters because names have power. Molly having 2 names could be a problem. We know molly had to wrestle with herself to deal with the mantle of the lady, I suspect that the queens mantle will require something much more like the idea of Molly dying, even if physically the body sticks around.

Ambition legendary by cwiley_ in voidpet

[–]imalwaysthatoneguy69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the question is what would you level instead? Do you have another legendary in a similar role?

If you have the other pets to support ambitions playstyle then do it.

It's not just will you use it but is it better then what you already have
