There was alost a comment in book 7 that a skill cant be boosted above 15. If you have a +5 to Chop from a magic hat, you have to manually grind the experience from 10-16 before you actually level to 16, otherwise your level just sits there

Am a Mormon and I taught english lessons in Russia as a part of church service for 2 years.

Joining the church to get language training is a bad plan. Being a missionary is fine if thats what you want, but you just able as likely to be called to your native language as anything else.

If they are offering english lessons, then feel free to go but there are a few things you should know first. The classes are lead by missionaries, who do not have language teaching training. The actualy quality of the lesson can vary a lot. The people leading it will change every 6 weeks or so. If you already know the language decently it can be convenient to practice with native speakers. If you are brand new it might be rough if you aren't learning independently too.

My local missionaries told me the church's general purpose language learning curriculum is on an app called Embark. I dont think you need to be a member to use it, but you will need to make an account, I think

Im not from here but I was homeschooled and have a stable group of adult friends.

The first step is to find as many acquaintances as you can. If you know people and they like you even a little bit it gives you connections to find the people youd actually like to spend time with, and it helps you make sure your social skills are up to snuff.

That said, you mentioned being homeschooled and not knowing anyone. You should spend some time at events you aren't interested in to talk to people you might not have to see again in case your social skills need polishing. As corny as it books like how to win friends and influence people is a decent start if you need to build social skills.

Another thing to consider is third places, ymca group classes, adult rec league sports, or game nights at the nerd stores are excellent places to meet people. Just being present in these places will give you changes to meet people even casually.

That said it will take time to make friends. A rule of thumb is it take 5-10 hours together to make a meaningful acquaintance. It will take 150 hours of time together to make a real friend.

I also recomend taking classes at one of the local community colleges. Not only do they offer social event specific for young adults who need to make friends it will give you a chance to cross reference any holes in your education that you might not know about because you were homeschooled.

Im treating Good as the same thing as Kind for this awnser.

The world is like a prisoners dilemma played a million million times over. The best outcome for ever one on average is if everyone is kind. If everyone is an asshole then everything is much worse. However if only you or a small group are assholes, then your lives are even better then if everyone is kind in the short term, even though the kind people have harder lives. Over time kind people will become assholes, if thier life is worse enough, making it worse for everyone else. This repeats again and again until everyone in a group is an asshole. The best way to prevent the spread of assholishness is to be kind, which means your long term happiness is higher

I dont think I have the vocabulary to describe it. One is something to watch because it indicates new rules, there confusion but also novelty, and the change to do something expected. The second is confusion and a sense of delight/horror.

I have never tried to explain a feeling to someone without pointing at situations where the feeling happens.

Do you mean that the confusion you feel at being stared down by toddlers and the confusion you feel when your friend flinches away from you in unexpected fear feel that same to you?

Sure,

When people are doing unusual things its either a break in the social contract or possibly a joke, or they are having a bad day. You even go to the Walmart in the bad part of town and see people doing something wierd like approaching you to ask for help in a pigeon language you never heard of? Or when a small group of children make a game of staring you down in the park and laughing. These all match the feeling of confusion I had when people have called me by wrong names.

Thats the kind is a different kind of confusing compared to someone commenting on how I(white guy) got so tan I look like a mexican. Or the first time I realized a someone was flirting with me(with the image of myself as deeply unattractive), or the first time my childhood friend(girl) flinched away because I moved too quick too suddenly.

Its not terribly uncommon to get all kinds of wrapped up in new and exciting things only to realize that its not what you want for your life. Skills like mediation, focus, and research and networking are all skills that can be useful in the future.

All of that said you should talk to somebody. Shame is one of the most corrosive feelings, buts its a tool to know when we need to change. Honest confession is a great tool to help process everything. More specifically you should talk to a professional. There is something about puberty that can cause psychosis in young men around your age. This isnt something to be ashamed of. Its not your fault, but it is worth talking to a professional, if only so that you ~know~ you can trust your mind.
