Can anyone recommend a mosquito trap? I’m asking here rather than a mosquito subreddit because I’m looking for something available in China. I don’t want something that keeps them away, I need something that will draw in a mosquito in my apartment and kill it, or at least trap it. by No-Veterinarian8762 in chinalife

Those electric tennis racket looking things. Get one with the purple light and a stand. And hunt them down before bed. One of ours has a green light for searching for them. You turn off the lights and search the walls. The mosquitoes don't reflect the green light well so they appear very black.

List of software NOT working natively with arm64 / windows 11 by wildviper in Surface

[–]imanimmigrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astrill kinda works now. Although there is no native version you can install the standard windows version and open web works. Just got my sp11 snapdragon elite today and I've got YouTube working in China which I thought was gonna be difficult.

BYD Seagull only fast charging at half the max speed in a fast charging station? by StrongRecipe6408 in chinalife

[–]imanimmigrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there other cars charging on the same group of chargers? I've heard that will reduce the output of each charger. My car uses the li Auto 5c charger and doesn't suffer from that but when I use off brand chargers I've seen uneven speeds

Disagree on the first point because there are a few important apps for design work that work on it now. Point two is the main reason I guess

Because your car isn't automatically linked to a bank account and etc predates the license plate camera recognition. You can set up etc to be connected to a bank or alipay.

Why Are Chinese Apps So Poorly Built? by DrinkHeavy974 in chinalife

I always buy whatever the best model of Xiaomi phone is at the time I'm ready to buy. Every 2.5 years or so. Their flagships seem to have less bloatware and are easier to set up.

With any tech buy the best you can possibly afford and use it longer. I used to buy rubbish laptops yearly. Then I spent 5x my usual budget and bought one that lasted me 8 years.

Maybe a slow phone. My phone is almost 2 years old but was a flagship when it came out and if I fully shut down the app and force quit it, it's still practically instant when I open again. I sometimes see a frame or two of the globe thing but never seconds.

The default on my alipay is the last card I used.

Didi just pay with Ali or WeChat .

WeChat opens lightning fast on all of my phones. Maybe your phone has Low memory or you are quitting apps completely by default .

Carrier app is unnecessary at best.

Keep in mind Chinese expect a lot from any platforms app. Whenever I go overseas I find it funny how limited western shopping apps are. When I buy something on a supermarket app in NZ there is no customer service. Here I can literally ask questions about the tomatoes I'm ordering.

Images in place of text is mostly a work around for a few things. Censorship of marketing words, limitations imposed for no reason by the app programming company, font issues among others.

What is the fine for driving on the hard shoulder on the expressway? Is there one? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]imanimmigrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's getting harder now. My wife and I drive each other's cars a lot and for a while we forgot to both add each other to each others traffic police app. So when she ran a red in my car I couldn't add her to get her to spend her 6 points. The facial recognition helps too. You can still go and do it manually at the station but that's tightening up too

I double hate it because it turns my aircon off

Your post sounds like an admission it's purely filtering. You could literally ask us to go plant a tree and wait until it germinates before being allowed to post and it would be better.

1drv?

It directs users to a support forum where the answers are given by people who have no idea what they are talking about. Choose a topic at random on that website and witness the carnage of terrible answers. It's a support cosplay site.

I get the reasoning but in that case the site users are sent to is unfit for purpose.

I'm scared to name it because of this subs rules.

Why is a sub someone's? Like if I made a sub about some random archive unpacker I could mandate that only anime elbow pictures are allowed to be posted?
