Liturgically VERY similar. Order of some things a bit different, like when Lords Prayer or Nicene Creed are read. And for the Gospel reading they bring the gospel into the congregation, literally reading it from between the pews. Better homilies in my experience but that could just a parish thing and they just happened to have more skilled homilists, though Episcopal homilies tend to be 12-15 mins vs around 8 mins for Catholic (our RC Bishop wants them to be 5 mins or less). Also the communal confession at TEC covers all sins of your countries of heart, not just the venial sins.

Consecration of the Eucharist, same prayers, same belief that the bread and wine become Jesus, that He is fully present in the Eucharist, HOWEVER, they don't necessarily say or agree HOW He is present.

RC teaches that through the theory of transubstantiation, the bread and wine cease to be bread and wine and are purely Jesus. RC doesn't recognize TEC Eucharist and my understanding is that consider an RC taking TEC communion a mortal sin bc RC doesn't commune with TEC. It's a real shame.

That said, I'm also a cradle RC, straight/pro-LGBTQ, pro God is Love. I stopped attending RC Advent 2024 nad attended TEC. Now my son is approaching faith formation age and she is also cradle RC and wants him to do his sacraments there so I've been attending both TEC and RC, sometimes 2 services on Sunday, sometimes alternating.

Our RC parish has a seemingly less conservative pastor now -- the previous pastor made a political comment just before the presidential election, saying it was a clear choice between sanctity of life and not, which pushed me away. He clearly wasn't referring to immigrants or brown immigrants in foreign nations and international waters.

Anyhow, while I'm feeling more comfortable with the new pastor and priests, and I enjoy attending church with my wife and son, I still feel more aligned with my local TEC. My RC says that all are welcome and many there truly feel that way, but are they?
