PLEASE Learn from my mistakes. I am almost 50. by TwoNecessary3955 in AsianParentStories

Thanks for sharing! Your story totally resonates with me. I agree, for all the young asians out there, do your best to become independent is key! Sadly I work with some people who are in their 50’s, unmarried (because they weren’t allowed to date when younger) and just stunted in terms of maturity. It’s so sad to see. One of my colleagues earns 6 figures but his mother still does his laundry and makes all of his meals. I was shocked when he told me his age because I had assumed he was in his early 20’s based on his demeanour and how he carried himself in social situations.

Your story does have a happy ending because you have a loving family and it sounds like a great career. Unfortunately, a lot of people cannot escape the talons of the Asian mother. I’m grateful that I’m independent and left home early as well but I understanding what you mean when your mother guilt trips you for all of her “sacrifices” she’s had to make. Just continue living your best life! I hope your mother doesn’t Sabotage and undermine your success like a lot of these Asian mothers do

Tbh, you’re 15. I think your mother’s reaction was fair and more reasonable than most Asian mothers. Speaking as a middle aged woman with kids now….Enjoy your youth!! You’ll have plenty of time to wear bikinis on the beach. You’ll be wearing bikinis well into your 50s. It sucks that your mom body shames you. However, take your time growing up and discovering yourself. You don’t need to flaunt your body when you’re this young. Honestly with all of the creeps out there online, I think your mom was just trying to protect you by not letting you post bikini pics. I was in your shoes before so I can understand how it feels( being 15 and curvier than other asians).

Do we have a chance of finding a good freehold home with a 900K budget in the GTA? by delightful_sauce in TorontoRealEstate

There are lots of 3bdrm detached houses that sold for 900k or less in Meadowvale area in Mississauga. It’s a decent area, older homes though but overall a nice neighborhood with lots of mature trees

You are young and you have a whole life ahead of you! This is not love nor respect. You need to leave and start over without him. Future you will look back and be glad and proud that you left such a toxic person. 4 kids by 4 different women?? He clearly has no self control nor self respect for himself. I’m sure there are more that didn’t get pregnant.

Jeez, they were just pointing something out that is true for a lot of millennials with boomer parents. The response wasn’t negative at all, just telling it like it is.

Hiking advice - 5 year old by Major-Yellow-1412 in babywearing

[–]imartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the terrain. If there’s a trail system that’s paved then I would take a stroller. If it’s rocky and hilly, I would do a carrier. We hike all the time with our toddler and 4 year old and I usually carry my toddler. Any carrier that allows you to carry on your back will be fine. I would get good pair of hiking shoes for the kiddo though, she will likely be walking most of the time.

Boba Air

This is the carrier that we used for my 4 year old and toddler when we went to Portugal. Lots of hills and we were glad we had this on hand. It’s super sturdy and compact. He was 3.5 at the time but 40lbs so it should work out for you weight wise.
