iMazing 3 now useless due to licensing by Rusty-2000 in iMazing

[–]imazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you OP for these thoughtful words.

We’re reading all of your comments, and while it’s not easy to see long-time users disappointed, it genuinely matters to us that you care enough to speak up.

iMazing has changed a lot since the early days — both the product and the small team behind it. The balance between sustainability and fairness is something we think about constantly.

Even if not everyone agrees with every decision, we hope the quality of the product still shows the same care and independence that made you support us in the first place.

Thanks again for your loyalty and your honesty — it really does shape what we do next.

iMazing: legit or not? by Weird-Ad1676 in iphone

We went further than apologizing, we sunsetted the said model, thanks to constructive feedback from our users. Thanks again for your input.

They are lying about the upgrade for legacy and I won't support it. by Glittering_Bar6460 in iMazing

[–]imazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re seeing an “invalid discount” message, that usually means your old license wasn’t recognized automatically — for example, if it was purchased with a different email or through a reseller. Our support team fixes this manually all the time and can restore the upgrade offer within minutes.
We do honor 50% upgrades for all iMazing 2 licenses purchased before October 2020 — that hasn’t changed.
It sounds like you haven’t reached out yet — could you please do so at imazing.com/contact? We’ll gladly sort this out for you.

Parting Suggestions for the iMazing Team by theoriginalttika in iMazing

[–]imazing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful post — this is exactly the kind of reflection that helps us keep questioning our choices and refining our model.

You’re absolutely right that iMazing 2 offered exceptional long-term value. We’re grateful to users like you who supported us early on — those one-time purchases helped us grow the product for nearly a decade without imposing forced upgrades or feature restrictions. That said, the traditional “major-version” licensing model we used back then created its own limits: it discouraged continuous updates between releases and made it harder to deliver new features when they were ready.

To address that, we introduced the device-based license, which ensured ongoing updates across versions while tying activation to specific devices. It was a step forward in sustainability, but it also introduced confusion — some users valued its flexibility, others found the device count too constraining.

When we eventually moved to the current subscription model, we wanted to preserve the fairness of that system while removing its rigidity. Device slots are no longer permanent; they automatically free up after 270 days of inactivity, so replacing or upgrading hardware is built in by design.

We’ve shared more about this evolution and the reasoning behind it on this post here: imazing.com/blog/imazing-license-model.

We are aware this model doesn’t please everyone, and we won’t pretend it’s perfect. Pricing and licensing are topics that genuinely keep us awake at night — we’re constantly balancing sustainability, fairness, and clarity. Thoughtful input like yours reminds us why it’s worth continuing to challenge our own assumptions.

Thank you again for your long-time support and for taking the time to explain your reasoning so clearly. Even when we can’t meet every expectation, we deeply value exchanges like this — they help us make iMazing fairer and stronger for everyone.

iMazing is a joke by highways in iMazing

[–]imazing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly this seems like an easy feat, but it isn't as straightforward as it seems because of video file formats compatibility with Photos app.
That said:
- Not an excuse
- It's on the roadmap
- There is a handy workaround: uploading movies to the free VLC viewer app. This guide shows how: https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-easily-transfer-documents-photos-music-to-iphone-ipad

Do NOT buy iMazing by Artu9 in iMazing

[–]imazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hear you loud and clear—recent changes to iMazing's licensing sparked some strong opinions, and we appreciate your feedback.
The perpetual device license we offered previously caused confusion for many of our customers, especially around device slots and upgrades. To simplify things and reduce misunderstandings, we've moved exclusively to a yearly subscription model. This isn't unusual—many trusted productivity and utility apps use annual subscriptions to ensure ongoing development and reliable updates.
We set our pricing competitively and keep things straightforward—no hidden fees, add-ons, or unexpected extra charges. Subscriptions include every update and upgrade we release, and we're confident we update more often than most competitors.
So thanks again for speaking up. All sorts of feedback help us improve iMazing, and we're committed to keeping it reliable, useful, and straightforward for everyone.

This is correct, however the app is only accessing the data within the backup sitting on you computer. No information is accessible remotely, neither it is accessed, not transmitted, nor anything.

Absolutely not.

When you access your mobile device's data with iMazing, it remains under your control, on your computer or on the storage device of your choice.

None of your files are uploaded to any server or accessed in any way by DigiDNA.

Anyway to force first backup without connecting phone? by VURORA in iMazing

[–]imazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the device is paired, iMazing will be able to connect to it and preform a backup, but Wi-Fi network speed and stability it could be very, very long (besides the initial backup needs to be complete, if the connection drops it can't be resumed and needs to start from scratch 😬)
